I have a 2000 Tundra SR5 access cab which has powered mirrors and more miles than any other vehicle I’ve owned. The mirrors have worked great, and the. Seemingly overnight the passenger side mirror no longer moves. No noise, clicks, thunks, motion, just nothin. The driver side mirror works fine.

coincidentally the “overdrive off” light no longer turns on until I shift into 2 from D (and goes out again when going back to D).

I don’t think they’re related but thought I’d mention it since they both started occurring at the same time.

only abnormal thing we’ve done is actually wash the car, which involved a short spray of the engine compartment while running (just to wash off the accumulated dust/pollen) and then the outside as normal. Everything seemed to work after that just fine. It was the next morning these two symptoms appeared.

I checked both the ACC 15A fuse and the ECU-B 5A fuse after searching around for what fuse it might be and both are fine.

any thought before I open up the door panel to inspect wiring and the motor?

A multimeter and wiring diagram would be helpful.

    It's good
Did you pull the fuses and put them back in? I'm not sure a fuse would affect one side and not the other, but this happened right after you hosed down the engine compartment. It's a fuse/contact issue I believe.

I did pull the fuses (which were inside the passenger compartment and not under the hood) and checked them and put them back (with no change)

Yes, yea it would be. I’m a network engineer so have a small understated electrical circuits and that would be lovely.

The overdrive off button in the 2000 only is junk. It's a 2 position switch that locks in when overdrive is off. It's likely worn out. Sometimes if you wiggle it you may be able to get OD off but the real fix is a replacement shift knob (or maybe get lucky with disassembly and cleaning).

@Tundra2 has done this repair before. I'll see if I can find the thread on it.
Short spray, sure that's fine but while running?? I'd probably keep from doing that in the future just to be safe.

Overdrive button is a good chance the wiring is broken in the handle. It's pretty easy to disassemble and solder a length of new wire in.

Mirrors are cheap enough to just to buy a new one and give it a shot if you don't have a meter.

My OD button was actually broken on the end of the shift lever. I couldn't repair it so I bought a new one. If I could have laid eyes on the 2001+ connector easily I would have changed to a newer lever when I replaced my shift lever. Also: I have no idea if the ECU would recognize a momentary input like that instead of constant on/off input from the 2000 lever.

IIRC the shift arm with button was about $80 plus shipping from mcgeorge.

Wasn't hard to replace. It's somewhere in the beginning 20 pages of crackies story. I'll see if I can find a direct link. Maybe I didn't take pictures.

Yeah, I can't find it. I made mention of it a few times, and then dived right into the timing belt.
