Currently running Old Man Emu greasable shackles and Dakar leaf springs, using OME’s yellow poly bushings.

Wanting to go with Toytec’s shackle instead. Does anyone know if OME’s poly bushings will be compatible with the new Toytec shackles?

Can ask toytec what the OD of the shackle bolts are and if same as the ID of those bushings your golden. Probably easiest way to find out since it seems like a very specific question.

good thought! I’m gonna order the toytec shackles with energy suspension poly bushings (same bushings toytec uses but only includes/sells the bushings for lower part of shackle) just in case the emu ones dont work.

    thanks

Don't forget to increase the bump stop height, or else the longer shackle might just flatten your springs.

Dude! I'm between those and the timbrens active off road bumps. I will have about 4.5" lift in rear. Durobumps says those bumps are rated for up to 2" lift. Durobumps are 3.5" tall, timbrens are 4.75"....

4.5 is quite a bit of lift, you should probably go with the timbrens. I am sitting at about 2.5" in the back so the duros work fine for me. Thought about timbrens but it would be overkill for me.

I use Sumo springs, works well, there is essentially no hard bottom out point. Therefore no hard shock loads to the axle components. I think the Timbrens are the same. Want to toss the durobumps I have up front and roll with the Timbren active system for the same reason. Spendy little boogers though!!

Just to clarify, I just called durobumps and they have an error on the website. The durobumps are good up to 3 inches of lift, not 2. They confirmed it. Not that it matter for you since you are at 4.5.

I have Timbrens with my Toytec shackle and Dobinsons springs. Based on their recommendation for space between the pad and bump stop, they actually sent me spacers (FOR FREE!) to make up the gap and have that proper 1" or so gap. So even though The Timbren bump stop is taller, it does compress more than the OEM small bump.

I'll try to get a picture shortly of what my bump stops look like now since you're set up will be almost identical to mine.

Free?? Yeah, after you give an arm & leg for a very high margin product. Just a business practice, not a freebie!

Well I bought them used through a private sale on this site, yet they still sent me parts no question asked.

Considering they sell the spacers as well, but all it takes is an email to get extra parts, I consider that good customer service, even if the part does have a high price tag.

Follow up: here's a picture of my current bump stop set up which might help you. Timbrens with a 2 inch metal spacer, along with a half inch rubber spacer.

Sorry I can't help with the bushing question!

Sweet! Almost same as my 5+2 Dobinson's and Sumo springs. Very similar bump to frame distance and very much similar soft type bump. Curious how the 2 costs compare! Think I gave about $180 for Sumo springs, but that was Dec. 2020.

Yeah I have the regular load Dobinsons leaf pack but I still love it. Honestly I'm not even sure I need the Timbrens anymore but oh well lol. And yes both options are stupid expensive. I paid $150 for a nearly brand new set because I'm too cheap to buy new, and before I had the new leaf pack the old pack really needed some help.

do you hit the bump stops a lot? Seems like such little space between top of bump and frame. I understand that’s the point though so you aren’t topping/bottoming out your shocks.

I haven't had any problems. They are designed to compress a fair bit unlike the OEM bump stops which just "stop" and have no give. I'm sure if I did more off-roading and was articulating it a lot more it would matter, but day to day and towing it seems to be fine.

Quick update for anyone following this thread or facing same challenge...

I spoke with David at Toytec and he gave me the part number for the Energy Suspension bushings that they offer in the Toytec shackle kit (addtl $20) to be used in the lower portion (leaf spring eyelet) of the shackle only.
    This part # is 02P0284301

I explained to David I wanted to run poly bushings in the whole shackle, not just the lower end. He couldn't guarantee any other poly bushing would be compatible with the shackle and just advised to use an OEM Toyota bushing for the top of the shackle (frame side) --- Part #90385-A0001 ($6.58 each) I believe they are rubber?

For maximum performance I wanted to utilize poly bushings in all applications..

I spoke with Energy Suspension again and gave him the part # that Toytec gave me (02P0284301), guy at E.S. advised this bushing is part of a full kit (8.2116G) - link below. I purchased this kit and have documented my findings below..

    https://teamenergysuspension.com/product/energy-suspension-8-2116g-leaf-spring-bushing-set-rear/

***NOTE - the 8.2116G kit is listed to be used for 05-14 Tacoma, but Toytec must have found the bushings in this kit (02P0284301) to be compatible with the lower end of their Toytec shackles, hence why they are utilizing them. Energy Suspension does make a bushing kit for the Tundra (8.2117G), but they advised those bushings are made for OEM equipment only, so I didn't bother with this kit as all my equipment is aftermarket.

    IMG_1993.jpg

Note the different sizes and 2 different part #s (02P02842) and (02P02843)

    IMG_1994.jpg

Bushing with larger flange I assume is to be used in leaf spring eyelet's closest to cab where leaf spring attaches to frame (4 total in kit)

    IMG_1997.jpg

Mock fitting...I couldn't fit the sleeve and bushings inside shackle for this

    IMG_1998.jpg

Full bushing kit from E.S. (8.2116G)

    4x (02P02843)
    8x (02P02842)

    IMG_2008.jpg

    4x (02P02843) from TOYTEC

    ***NOTE -
I still plan on testing compatibility of the yellow OME poly bushings with Toytec's shackle. If they are compatible, can I also retain OME's greasable bolts as well? I will be installing these shackles next week some time, I just wanted to provide an update.

ALSO - purchased Timbren's active off road bumps. I will report back about install and performance of these ASAP!

    ***** UPDATE *****

The Energy suspension bushings from kit 8.2116g fit in all places, but fitment is questionable. For the upper portion of the shackle - bushing #42 is too short here and the supplied sleeve is not long enough. The sleeve sits in the middle of both bushings and the frame and there is about a 1" gap on both sides with the sleeve in the center. The bushings also don't meet in the middle, there's about a 1"+ gap between the ends of the bushings inside the frame. I would recommend using OEM Toyota bushings here as Toytec advises. I am still not 100% sure where the 4x #42 bushings are supposed to go. I’m sure Energy suspension could advise further. I reused the Old man emu bushings #333 for the leaf spring eyelets on cab side with OEM Toyota bolts. Moral of the story is: use Toyota OEM bushings for top of shackle, use E.S. poly bushings for lower part of shackle/spring eyelet, and either re-use your OEM Toyota bushing for other spring eyelet (cab side), bushing supplied with aftermarket leaf pack, or you could probably use the same E.S. bushings (#43) you used for other side of eyelet (shackle side).

    Cheers

Dang, I saw those on FBMP. I have the ProComps right now, and they're a great set. Hoping that 4WP will get the 18x9 on sale. The 17's are nice though... tires are cheaper with 17s and there are so many used options with good tread...

Any rubbing with your set up? Did you have to do a BMC? Currently have a very similar set up to you (ARB Summit Bumper, full OME lift/suspension). Wanting to downsize rim/upsize tire but worried about possible rubbing.
