Hey guys! I posted the following in another thread but I want to get as much advice from as many people as possible! I need to replace my Leaf springs (they are mushy...blown). I am looking at OME Dakar's....someone else said they didn't last. Anyone out there with personal experience with them? Anything else I should be considering in the same price range? Approx 500-600$ ?????

-----Does anyone have information on OME Dakar Leaf packs? Toytec has them for 500$ for the set. I tow a 7000lb Travel Trailer. This will only be my second season towing it. I bought a used 2013 Tundra. Who ever used it before obviously towed with it and the OEM leaf springs go flat to inverted slightly without the airbags being inflated. I only want the airbags to augment the load not carry it! Am I wrong for thinking this? This is my third Tundra. I've had various suspension set ups. I'm going to go with the Bilstein 6112's up front at top setting or 2nd to highest setting (They ride amazing.) For the rear on my last build I just did an add-a-leaf from toytec on the rear with toytec shackles set at 1" (OME nitro shocks on the rear).
-----The rear end on this build is important to me now that I will be towing with my family 3-4 weekends a month! PRECIOUS CARGO. So I am thinking OME Dakar springs on the rear/ OME nitro shocks rear/ and a Coach builder Shackle/ Either 1" or 2"....... Any recommendations? Any gaps I'm missing? I have a CrewMax with hard topper/ and when we tow I've got the bed jammed with wood/ water/ fuel/ generators....500-800 lbs easy.....ADVICE from ANY of you guys with real experience is MUCH appreciated !!!:mudding::plane:

I'm hoping for anyone out there who may be running the OME Dakar's to comment on how they are holding up!! How much weight you load on them towing and or bed load?!:pccoffee:

I had them on my 2010 Tacoma, my oldest son drives it now. They have about 56k on them and no sagging. The heaviest load I had on them (in the bed) was about 600lbs (laminate flooring) and it did really well. Would I buy them again? In a heart beat! When I recover from my latest purchase I will be buying Old Man Emu for my Tundra.

I put them on mine last spring and IMO wish I didn’t spend the money on them. Not happy they have flattened out already and actually the pass side has reversed arched a bit I post the pic look behind the axel you can see it I like the way it rides and I tow a 6x12 enclosed trailer. And weighs about 4000 loaded up and it doesn’t sag much but just not happy with the flattening issue 762EAF4D-D6B3-4890-A6D5-19BEC559C743.jpg

Thanks for chiming in, I'm also considering Dakars. I'm confused. You like the way it rides, it doesn't sag with a load, but you still wish you didn't spend the money on them? Why does the leafs being flat matter?

Have you considered icon rxt? @Wheelerjr32 Has them for 749 and with forum discount should be less than 7 with free shipping. Only downside is they don't have them in stock yet as am still waiting for mine.

I have had them on now for 3 years.. they are just starting to go. I have towed with them a 7ft wide 8 ft high by 16ft long enclosed trailer. the leafs add some hight like 2-2.5" i will say all things considered these leafs are great, they dont keep up with my LT front now, but do a damn good job all things considered. not sure what else you have questions on feel free to PM me. Also i run very hard on my truck with about 4-600lbs of bed weight i have ads 2.5 triple bypasses and they manage the load great. I also had air bags with day star cradles and they worked great for heavier loads.

I should mention yes mine have flattened out now, but that was 3 years and 75k miles and very hard wheeling ... worth the $ imo if you are trying to save a few bucks..

To answer question pbcolt the idea of aftermarket leaf packs is to give you a bit of lift without blocks or shackles and when they lose that arch “flatten” then you loose the whole reason you bought them in the first place and now my truck is sitting a bit uneven because of it. That’s why I’m not happy they shouldn’t loose there arch in less than a year for $500 +

    I agree

Gosh, reading some of these treads on leaf packs, almost makes me want to just get a $85 add a leaf set like i had on my Tacoma. if it flattens in 3 or 4 years, throw it in the trash and replace it with another.
I had that on my tacoma, and never had a issue and towed and hauled way more weight than i should have on a number of occasions.

I had OME sprinhs on my tacoma with no issues,if you load out heavy or tow then airbags to help would be smart as well.the ICON springs look great but who know how they will do over time since there still new....just my .02 worth

I am using the RXT multirate leaf pack at 3rd option. Holding up well with about 450lbs on.
