You don’t update CarPlay on the head unit…

CarPlay is a function of iOS…

Keep in mind, Apple's "next generation CarPlay" is unlikely to be used in Toyota vehicles anytime soon, and probably never with the current Tundra. While Apple will likely update CarPlay in general, all the biggest features will be limited to head units/manufactures that support it.

There was a really good post from someone on the board about 6 months ago that outlined cloud vs native head unit SW and so on. I can't find it. I think maybe you wrote it? Do you remember it?

Hi all - I have a '22 1794 and am on HU 1025. I've seen an error message pop up a couple of times saying "Unable to update the software. Error code 101."

Download to USB fails as well; throwing errors while JSON file is uploading or package is being prepared. "Something went wrong please try again after some time." Probably tried ~30 times, no success.

Any ideas what the problem could be? Can't find anything online about error code 101. Also not sure why I never upgraded to 1050 like most people seem to have.

Has anyone tried asking "Hey Toyota" any commands in regards to making any changes to the Climate controls and gotten a response other than "that feature is not available". The infotainment system is supposed to allow you to completely control climate functions by voice commands. Thanks -- asking for a friend(me) - lol

I just ran out and started up my '24 1794 built in 08/23. It's running 2050 and I have to say it's been the most reliable I've had, comparing it to a '22 Audi A6 and a '22 Porsche 911.

It works almost flawlessly for my limited use (all CarPlay). I do get the "seat adjust?" pop up sometimes but it goes off and stays off when I push the button.

Based on experiences with those cars (and my dear departed '16 S Class), I'm afraid to touch it, thinking things probably can't get much better...

Has anyone gotten the “1 new message” pop up? I click it and my screen goes white , and I need to reboot to get functionality back.

I started my truck tonight and went to software update and it said there was one. I started the process and it took all of 15 minutes. Here are a couple of screenshots.

Do you need connected services for the OTA update to come through? I let that expire so curious if anyone without it has gotten the OTA update or not?

My HU updated yesterday - no problems. Have not checked to see what version (s) but I'm sure it is the latest like all the others have received.

Any one else having wireless CarPlay connectivity issues after the update? I seem to be the minority but I had no issues with my phone connecting when on 1050. Now that I am on 2050 it seems that about 1/3 the time CarPlay shows connected but there is never audio from music, youtube music, or any app. It will show playing but no sound. If I turn wifi off and disconnect the reconnect it fixes it 90% of the time. I've had to do that twice a couple times before it would work correctly. I'm going to experiment some more as I think it is happening when I remote start, then go out to the truck and start it quickly after the door unlocks and the truck turns off.

It is because it connects as you walk to the car and then restart quickly...

I will typically wait a few seconds after getting into the truck for it to "disconnect" and then restart...

Thanks for confirming. That's what I was thinking was happening but hadn't enough cycles to confirm yet. Odd it did not have the issue on 1050 as my habits haven't changed since the update. No biggie, just odd

On 2050, the connection and handshake is happening faster than on 1050, so that is now part of the equation...

1040/1050 were quite slow at the handshake and they've improved that immensely...

ya, I've noticed that as well with the handshake.

also, and this may be the power of wishful thinking, it seems as if they make slightly tweaked the front crossover point or something as music with wireless CarPlay seems to have trimmed or smoothed the bass in the front doors just a bit.
