I went on the software update site. Retrieved the information from my truck on a USB. Went back and downloaded the update. Went back to the truck, inserted the USB. Truck said cannot read the USB. Plugged the USB back into the computer. Computer said USB bad, reformat. I reformatted the USB. Which lost all the information. Went back to the truck to retrieve the information again on a different USB. Went back to the computer to download the update. Software update site says; "Your truck has the most recent update"

Called Toyota. They can't do anything for me. Went to the dealer, they said they can't do anything for me.

    What do I do now????

Maybe it has something to do with where you are located.

Are you experiencing an issue that you expect to be fixed by the update? If not, I wouldn't sweat it. I noticed zero difference going from 1050 to 2050. You just have to wait until Toyota deems you worthy of getting the update.

    I’m in WI
Problem I have is when hooked to car play I get the microphone symbol on the dash. Volume will not adjust until I turn the radio on\off. Then all goes back to normal.

Maybe try a different USB drive and do the download again? Wish I had a better suggestion....

Thanks. Problem is, I downloaded it once. Now the website thinks I have the latest version and won’t let me download it again.

It's hard to believe they would only let you download once but anything's possible. I still think it's worth it to try again. They have you upload the truck info for a reason and I would hope it can recognize you're not on the latest version. Also, I'd call BS on your dealer saying they can't help.

Where would updates come from for the Digital Instrument Cluster? OTA and built in to v2170? I am on 2050.

2170 is not available OTA or via USB at this time...

Digital Instrument Cluster has to be done via Techstream/GTS+ (Global Techstream Plus)...

OTA data is not currently populating correctly on TIS, which leads me to believe it isn't populating correctly a 100% of the time when trying to get the updates via the Toyota website...

My Tundra delivered last week came with v2170. I asked the dealer to check the software as part of the delivery and they advised that it came from the factory with v2170. I tried to assemble some screenshots to see what is included with this upgrade and the file is attached. Hope the information is helpful. Let me know if there are any questions.

Been checking for the update here - no luck. Good news is the HU works fine and I'm in no hurry. Someday it will arrive!

Well, after my truck download the update, but could not install it, I tried again the following morning. Same WIFI connection. That time it worked without a hitch. I haven't noticed anything different from the 1050 version.

One of my biggest complaints is texts messages don't automatically mute the radio so you can hear the read out. You have to manually mute the radio before selecting the incoming text. Sadly, this update didn't address that bug.

Weird. Mine has never done that, and I use CarPlay 100% of the time. It automatically mutes the radio for incoming and outgoing calls, as well as navigation prompts, but not for texts message read outs.

We have the exact routine....Carplay on, Google Maps displayed, and either FM radio or Apple Music playing. No joy for me with texts. I have a 10K service scheduled, so I'll ask about it then.

Have you done a full reset of the head unit and forgotten the head unit on your device? Unlink the Toyota app. Uninstall and reinstall it.

    Start 100% fresh and see...

No, I've never done a full reset. Frankly, I'm hesitant to try. Is that procedure spelled out in the manual? It's been several months since I read thru it.

This is literally the only problem I have with the head unit, and I don't want to jinx it. Hopefully I'll get a competent tech who can help me when I do my 10K service.

When you say FM radio, are you referring to the real old-fashioned FM radio on the Toyota side of things, or a FM radio app on the iPhone? I think this text message readout bug only exists if you're listening to music through CarPlay (Apple Music for sure, maybe Spotify and the like?). With 2050 I feel like it tries to mute the music, but it's barely noticeable and still too loud. My audio is 100% from an iOS device via wireless CarPlay.

Basically though the knowledge of 2050 update is basically more insider info as its only available via TIS Techinfo as TSB. Thankfully Ryan digs into it and lets us know at least of the existence of the TSB's.

Once the TSB is published on NHSTA website, then it can be more considered public info (But that is delayed 3 months or so) Once its public info you can be more aggressive with the service department about any issues about not receiving the OTA update, as you can always go to their website and print the entire TSB out.

2170 is basically insider info and the dealers will not know anything as there is no TSB info.

At least Toyota's system isn't trying to update while the car is off and draining the battery like the GM did.

In my case, it's regular "old fashioned" FM radio or Apple Music. Neither of them mutes automatically for text read outs, like they should.

I did this and it didn’t help to receive the update. It cancelled my remote connect subscription and I had to redo all the settings. It only took 5 minutes to set everything as it was but still no update.
