Has anyone put the OEM dash cam in? What do they look like? Is it easy to do yourself?
Sorry if there is already a thread available.

I never heard of a OEM dash cam. Can you give me the part number, or a picture of it?

The OEM dashcam is only an option in Canada.

The OEM camera is ridiculously expensive and no better than aftermarket options. It’s $700 installed option from the dealer. (That price isn’t a typo)

I did some further investigation and found that the Canada part number ends with a 0 and the US part end with a 1. Don’t know why. Needs further investigation.

The computers than run these trucks are probably coded using the Canadian language up north, and English down here.

Interesting. I can certainly see a benefit of this in a collision dispute. What other reasons do folks have for using them?

Having your kid drive it or when the shop takes it out off-roading during an oil change.

But basically, it's proof in an accident. They come with parking video too if bumped or jarred, but I didn't wire mine for it.

I went with a $100 front facing, Viofo, from Amazon Canada.

Put my FITCAMX in and so far so good. It is plug and play which is nice. I will say it doesn’t seem to clip in as hard as the factory one though. So see how it’s holds up. The app is pretty basic but gets the job done.

I know you didn't ask me but I've had mine for several months, so far it's been working just fine. I have the front and rear camera combo from FITCAMX in my CM. Install was easy, especially if you are just doing the front camera. The plastic cover on the front fit nice and snug, very OEM like. The rear camera has plenty of wire to reach, actually wish it had less but not an issue. I've looked through a few videos and quality seems good on my phone, haven't pulled the card and watched on my computer though.

Any and all feedback is helpful; thank you! Mostly just concerned that it's been working as advertised for a while and the video quality is decent.
Any chance you wired it for 'parking mode'? It says to 'contact' them for a wiring kit for that function... I originally just wanted a forward facing unit for while driving, but now thinking piece of mind while parked would be nice too.

    Too many, but not enough....
Do you have to remove headliner in back?

Also does this just auto turn on with ignition and does it continuously record and overwrite

What model did you get? I didn't see a Tundra version. Also did you power it through OBD port?

I'd say the video quality is as advertised, 4k on the front and 1080p on the rear. Again, I haven't looked at the video on my computer but I have through my phone. If I remember I will pull the card later or tomorrow and view some video on my computer.
I did not wire mine for parking mode, honestly didn't know that was an option. Not sure I'm too concerned with that feature myself.

Nope, just tuck the wire up along the edge of the headliner and you're good to go, cant even see it.
