Just installed MOOG greaseable lower balls. I'm expecting about 150K... so probably change em when the odo hits 500K.

Either when they appear damaged, or when something else gets damaged, or when I have another 60k miles on my truck.

@Darkness, what drives the 60,000 mile decision for LBJs?

Nothing scientific, just for preventative on my truck. I have heard recommendations for 75k or 100k miles before but my truck is a bit lifted and I drive it pretty rough.

Be careful with those, the way Toyota designed our lower ball joints there is downward and upward tension on them. Most of the aftermarket weren't designed for the upward tension and so the sleeve around the ball doesn't cover as much or is as strong, so they can separate.

I ran a few high level searches on this site and TS, and ball joint failures don't seem as common as they are made out to be. All the title specific failures seem to be aftermarket ball joints. I am still looking for post recall failures.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on that. They're so easy to replace it's not really a big deal to me.

I would change the moogs at 10k mile intervals.
Or just buy the Oem and be done with it, they aren’t that much more expensive for the ease of mind.

For this gen of Tundras, every 100K is advisable, more advisable is to use Only Toyota OEM parts, moog might last 25K if you're lucky.

    Ask me how I know!
