Seeing that green/yellow hue in that smoke was eerie, can’t begin to imagine what kinds of materials were burning

The Pope in exhile/retirement said last week that the whole priest-young boys sex abuse IS THE FAULT of the 1960's. The Big Daddy don't like folks lying.

The gravity of the architectural loss will be 2nd to none in our modern times. The original build was 182 years in the making.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but a dozen Catholic churches have been desecrated across France over the period of one week in an egregious case of anti-Christian vandalism.

I visited the cathedral in 2002 and 09 and I will tell you what, the painting where incredible, and now gone for ever. As sad as it is to say, nothing will last forever.

According to the early reports this morning. The structure is good but still being assessed. Many works of art and religious artifacts were saved, but not all. Also safe are the stained glass windows like the Rose Window.

I personally think these reports are fairly premature. Just because they weren't destroyed by fire doesn't mean they weren't damaged by the heat or the water and who knows what the long term consequences of said damage could be.

I went to Paris in 2014, didnt care about the Eiffel, didnt care about the Arc De Triomphe and was really trying to avoid Champs Elysees but my wife won that war. The one thing I really wanted to see was Notre Dame, and I really enjoyed seeing it despite the long line. When I was a kid, long before the Disney movie, I thought that was the coolest looking building. Really a sad sight, I have been waiting to hear more conclusive details on it.

I do a lot of traveling and one thing I notice is almost every old landmark structure has maintenance and construction going on. This could happen to anything that you dream of seeing in your life, so I encourage you all to go travel and see it before it's gone.
