Not quite new, but just picked up my Tundra

I just picked up my new 2021 TRD Pro today...

I kind of stumbled into a good deal by accident on it. I have been searching CarGurus for new Tundras (was considering a 1794 because I didn't feel comfortable having to pay MSRP on a TRD Pro compared to the pricing on a 1794).

One night, a 2021 TRD Pro pops up at a fairly significant discount off of MSRP. I double checked with the dealer's website, and the same price was there. I sent in a request for information that evening, and the next day, a salesperson calls me back and said that the price online was a mistake (they have a pricing algorithm to discount their cars, but it was supposed to exclude the Tundra TRD Pro).

I figured that was the case and was getting ready to thank him for calling back, but the salesperson continued and said, "However, since our website had that price, and you reached out because of that price, the sales manager said he'd give it to you at that price if you commit to buying it today."

I wasn't expecting that at all, so I said yes, let's do it! I had to wait a few days to get over there because of work and life and all that, but true to their word, they kept the pricing the same once I got in and voila!

That's good news. With so many owners on this forum posting about bad experiences with dealerships its nice to hear that one did right by you. Enjoy the new truck!

I grew up back in the 90's and drove Mustangs with a 5.0... I tell you, the exhaust on this thing sounds way better than that inside the cab! I took the back roads home to break it in a bit and avoid cruising on the highway, and it put a smile on my face every time I left a stop sign.

Hopefully it sounds good outside too? Or is Toyota pumping in engine noise to the cab like some other manufacturers?

I know... salesperson was great. The business manager processing my paperwork and I just chilled and chatted about trucks for a while. No high pressure warranty sales. It was actually an enjoyable experience (other than handing over that check... Heh!). A night and day difference from when I bought a vehicle at a different brand a few years back. Maybe that's just the way Toyota dealerships operate?

If anyone lives near central IL (or doesn't mind a drive), let me know and I can provide a contact there. I'm 99% sure they wouldn't match my discount, but I'm guessing you could get a bit under MSRP if you are friendly.

Good score. It’s nice to hear about the positive dealer experiences too. Mine was similar, at the second one I dealt with......
