Well, it always starts at the top and works down with Toyota/Lexus.

I swear we were talking about this the other day.

There's a chance we'll see diesel soon! Toyota "accidentally" leaked some information regarding building prototype diesel engines for upcoming Toyotas <--- The "s" at the end is what excites me. I would love to see a Cummins/Duramax Tundra!

Toyota has had that engine in the landcruiser since 2007. Landcruiser 200 series
It's so nice I wish we could get that engine here.

Why would you want a diesel engine in a half ton? Is the 5.7 not enough. The tundra is not a 3/4 ton truck. Diesel adds no tow capacity and they sound shit compared to TRD

Because Toyota's 4.5L V8 twin turbo diesel is not a big engine and I'd would go good on a half ton truck, this engine is not for a 3/4 ton truck. It has 268hp and 479lb-ft at low rpm. And I never said anything about extra towing capacity. I just wish it was an option for our trucks, I would get it in a heart beat. And only cause it sounds like shit doesn't mean it won't perform awesome, and it's a Toyota engine so it's sweet!

    But why not the 5.7?

I love the 5.7 nothing wrong with it. Best gas V8 engine out there even better than some diesel out there lol. All I'm saying is be nice to have the option of the 4.5L V8 twin turbo here that's all. My opinion anyway. It's like the rest of the world has the option to get the landcruiser 200 series with the 5.7 or the 4.5 twin turbo diesel.

It will never happen here in the U.S. Toyota is too wise to get all tangled up in the Obama/EPA clean air scandal

X2. Plus you can see bigger gains in HP and torque when upgrading with diesel compared to gas engines. Unfortunately the only way you'd get that engine in a Tundra stateside is to swap motors, Toyota isn't gonna jump through the BS hoops of emissions here.
