My name is Joe and I'm from the Bay Area. I'm 40 years old and recently purchased a TRD Pro for myself for Father's Day.

I've always used forums in the past for cars I have owned but never became involved. I'd like to be part of this forum based on the interaction I've had with a few members here. Seems like you guys are a good bunch.

So here is the story on how I got a Tundra. I knew I wanted a TRD Pro and have been watching this board for a while now. I followed the intro of the 2018 pretty closely and when I found out the Pro wasn't going to be made in 2018 I knew I had to move quickly.

I did a search on cars.com and there were 3 for sale within 100 miles of me. Two of the dealers said that both trucks were already sold and the third said that the guy who ordered it 6 months ago had just backed out and if I wanted it I needed to move. This was the furthest away from me (I'm basically in San Jose and it was in Santa Rosa which is 80 miles away. That is 80 miles through San Francisco, across the Golden Gate bridge, and with all the traffic along the way), but it was also bone stock without any add ons. Price was going to be MSRP but it wasn't going to be inflated with stuff that I didn't want.

I had that info on the Friday before Father's Day around 10am. The rest of the day was convincing my wife that it was a good idea... I told her that if I didn't do it I wouldn't get a pro, she said no. I told her how great it was and how much I wanted it, she said no. What ended up working for me was I emailed Toyota saying I wanted to order a TRD Pro. I started to then get calls from dealers.... Most of them were telling me that they could put me on a list and that I would have to wait 6 months. Only problem was both told me that I would be number two on that list and I knew that there was no chance. I made sure she heard those conversations.

So around 3 I was able to get in the car to go buy the truck. 3 1/2 hours later I made it the 80 miles. Went in and met the salesman I'd been talking to. Signed the paperwork and wrote a check and the truck was mine. Drove my car home in half the time it took to get there.

My wife is going to have our second child, a daughter, next Monday. That is why she couldn't do the drive on Friday night. So we had to go back on Sunday, Father's Day, which was about the coolest Father's Day present I'm ever going to receive. Picked it up and drove 150 miles the first day.

Attached are photos as she sits now. I've done a few things like AMP power steps, Bakflip F1 cover, AMP bed step, 275/70/18 KO2's, Swingcases for the bed, plastic liner for the bed, ESP aluminum rear storage, Tray and dividers for center console, and Simonize Glasscoat.

I think that is it. I've learned a lot from this forum. I've purchased most of the stuff that I have on my truck based on what I've seen up here. You guys have been a great resource and the members I have interacted with directly have been great. It seems like a cool place for me to want to be a part of.

    Joe

This is a picture I took when I was installing the powerstep. I looked towards the front and something didn't look right.

I bet it was a Snap-on. I cant count the number of times mechanics have left tools in my truck and they always seems to use Snap-on. Beautiful truck sir, congrats!

It is crazy here. If I had to commute I would not have bought a TRD Pro. I tend to stay in my 10 mile radius so it is cool.
