My ever so loving wife decided to play chicken with a rather large pine tree today with her Tacoma, she lost. I’m pretty certain it will be a total loss....again. Everyone is fine, airbags deployed and did their jobs. Obviously she can’t handle an SUV or truck in the snow and ice, so I have to do something else. My kids where in the car this time, and the worst part, I was driving home in my rear wheel drive Lexus IS350, in the snow, with no problems, and was privileged to see the whole accident from an 1/8th mile in front of me. That was a real treat.

My love really likes my IS 350 except for the rear wheels drive only. So hopefully we can get an AWD IS350 as her replacement with some nice winter snow tires. Since moving to our new home, the weather is rather interesting and can get sporty out here in the drop of a dime.

I found a really clean IS350 AWD, in the fastest color (maybe that’s not a good idea, probably should look for a MGM). I’m going to pick this up for the wife tomorrow and go put some snow tires on it.

Now we are a Lexus family...

Yes it was. I’m glad she hit the tree. This stopped her from going down a long embankment.

I just pulled my kids out of the truck, put them in the car, took them home 1 mile away. I then jumped in my truck, used a tow strap and yanked it out of the embankment. Had my queen get in my truck and took her home.

By the time I got back to the accident, Highway Patrol was there, already had a flatbed hooked up and directing traffic. They were awesome to work with. Colorado’s finest.

Wow, Chris! Hard to "like" your post, but there's certainly a lot to be grateful for, so that's why I did. I hope your wife, kids, and you come through unscathed (no persistent intrusive thoughts; just focus on how well those blessings piled onto the rest of it). Whoooh! A bunch of suck, for sure, but definitely a lot to be thankful about here!

Glad everyone made it out safe. It was pretty snowy up here this morning to my surprise since it was just rain/sleet around bedtime last night. One could argue you're still a Toyota family though ;) just a different badge.

Yes it was a surprise for the wife at 3:30 this morning. She even texted me at work since she was worried about it.

Glad everyone is ok! That’s really all that matters. You’re right, in this state if you’re not lucky enough to have a pine stop you it might be a long ride down some nastiness.
I was thinking of trading my wife’s Highlander in for an RX. I don't think you can go wrong with a Lexus.

Thank you. Funny thing is she called me as I was pulling up beside her. She was “I’ve been in an accident”...and I was like “I know, look over”....

Thank you, and you're absolutely right on all accounts. We started looking at Subaru cars, but she just doesn’t like them much.

I have you on speed dial Amigo. You’re a good man Sean.

You know, we looked at them and liked the 400 and 450, but we feel it is time to get something a little better on fuel. Last months fuel bill was ~650.00, and I only work 15 days per month for my 80 mile daily commute. However, my wife does 65 miles a day for 20 days per month. Her Tacoma was killing us on fuel. Twice at least per week. It all adds up quickly.
