Iv been wanting a roof rack but drilling into the roof of my truck is not something im 100% comfortable doing. I found this on Instagram when they were doing pre orders. Anyone have any experience with them or know about how it mounts?

The rack looks good, and the test videos look good

Hmmmm.... Not sure I'd be willing to load weight on a rack that is held on with epoxy. Might actually pull the paint up from the roof and cause all kinds of issues. Now, that's me being super cynical and pessimistic. It might be fine, but I wouldn't be willing to risk it.

I saw the spider no drill on the gram and wondered how it was attached. I wouldn't trust epoxy for any DIY install. A full length rain gutter fill with properly applied epoxy maybe but that's pretty irreversible; might as well put a few riv nuts in...carefully!

I've been trying to figure out how to get a pair of kayaks out of the bed. Seasucker looks interesting. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

i put dill on lots of things; it's not recommended with a roof rack?

it's great on tilapia with a couple lemon slices. believe it or not, it's even great in chicken salad w/ chives. apparently, most grandmas used it when they would "can" pickles (not really a can, but an old school ball jar / boiling water method of preservation)

nothing of substance to contribute regarding roof rack; carry on...

Just to give an update to this. I reached out to the company and this is what they said

    Hi Rob,

Thank you for reaching out to us. The roof rack comes with 6 mounts that’s patent pending. The mounts is a wedge/mechanical system that fit inside the drip rails on top of your roof. We also provide a epoxy as a secondary measure security. All hardware are black stainless steel. If you’re in SoCal you are welcome to come by to see the roof rack in person and I can explain how the mounts works. Hope I answer your question. Let me know if there’s anything I can help.

    Thank you,
    Tiger

Me- "Can you install the rack with out using the epoxy?"

Them- "Yes you can.. epoxy is a secondary security measure. "

If you go... please take lots of pictures. And im sure you’ll ask all the necessary questions like:
    Load limit
    Off road rated
    Number of crossbars
    Crossbar minimum/max spacing
    Corrosion resistance
    Etc.

Good luck and thanks for the legwork.

I went with an Adarac pro series bed rack for mine. I’m not crazy about the box look, but it’s the only bed rack I’ve seen that will work with my BAKflip tonneau cover.

I love that Wilco chase rack.

I had a custom made chase rack on my 2500hd for racing down in Baja. Really helps with storage.

I have one for transporting my canoe.

Once the initial measurements and set up were complete, I can remove or reinstall by myself, in under 5min.

I only use it when needed.

It looks good, but the loaded pic has me concerned. Not sure I want anything like that rubbing on my roof when the bed moves.

    Yes.
    I’m curious as well.

Looks like some kind of rubber stop, but I’m not sure how it performs under load.

That's what it looked like to me as well, but honestly IDC what it's made out of because it'll still do paint damage rubbing around on the roof. If it is rigid enough to sit over the roof without touching it, then I might be interested in something like this. Not the biggest fan of the round holes, but not lots of options.

I take it that Wilco cannot be used with a low-profile folding Tonneau cover.

I've been looking at that setup online and.it certainly is boxy. I've got the same cover, too. Baby steps to the kayak, baby steps to the kayak... I'm laughing ab it inside replaying What About Bob in my head.

I consider whether a potential buyer is going to be turned off by some modification I have made to a vehicle. A roof rack with epoxy mounting points is a permanent addition. The good part is that the glue approach is not as likely to contributer to rusting of the mounting points which is something I have experienced with factory roof racks on my SUV's.

I always put a fiberglass cap on my trucks to double how much I can carry and mount Thule supports by through bolting them to the sides of the cap so the load is on the sides and not the roof of the cap. If I need support for something that is long, as with my 13 foot kayaks, then I add another Thule cross bar that uses mounts that attach to the door frame without screwing into the metal.
