I unfortunately wrecked my 2014 tundra Friday afternoon, a guy pulled out from a stop sign and hit me in the driver's door. No airbag deployment of any of them. Anyone else heard of this? IMG_20170609_144616371_HDR.jpg

Thanks. Yeah I'm fine, just a little sore. If it's totaled, I'm going to replace it with the same exact truck, maybe a newer year, and get the bigger gas tank.

Impact force wasn't high enough. Did you body or head fly into the side window?

Glad you were not injured. That is all that matters.

I would be surprised if that is enough to total your truck. That damage looks worse than it is.

The same thing happened to my FIL at 50 mph in his F150. No airbag deployment either. The force just wasn't enough.

Now Dodges on the other hand, I questioned a lot. Two of my buddies had front end collisions at over 45 mph and the bags never went off.

Airbags are designed to go off when " Necessary "....i see front end hits all the time where airbags have not deployed...and drivers, passengers are not hurt.....its amazing the technology that goes into airbags. I assume you are not hurt ?...Head injury ?

I agree, unless there is damage to structural components we can't see. Always depends on the insurance adjustors and body shop.

looking at how much damage there is, it is odd that your airbags did not deploy. when I had my Tacoma, a deer T-boned me and my side airbags went off. that impact caused $10,000 worth of damage :(

Thanks for all the concern and info. My head hit the b-pillar a little. I'm good though. I was just wondering about the airbags, this is the first wreck I've had, in a vehicle with airbags, I was thinking it didn't take much at all for those things to deploy.

Good your ok. Be interesting to see how much damage. My daughter let her friend drive her mustang and the insurance adjuster was $400 from being totaled, and that we will need to find someone to fix it. I told him negative buddy, your gonna total it. Just sayin, you know how insurance companies can be. Good luck

    This...so much this.

My FILs truck had 7500.00 in damages with an accident that looked similar to yours.

Air bag deployment, on the other hand is very expensive, and often totals a vehicle because of this cost.

^ Great advice! You are going to get dinged on the value of the truck when the day comes to sell/trade with it being in an accident.

Glad you are alright....trucks are replaceable....people not so much.

I'd agree, not enough of an impact for airbag deployment. Saved you from the feeling of having been beat by Chuck Norris in a pillow fight. That's the best way I know how to describe it.

Thanks for all the advice, especially the deminished value advise. Honestly I'd never heard of it, but I've never wrecked a vehicle where it would've mattered, lol. Makes me feel better about them not totalling it now. I am glad the airbags didn't deploy, I've seen people that have had them deploy, and they look like they got their ass whipped by Chuck Norris, without a pillow. Lol

The deminished value should be pretty good on my truck. It's 2014 with only 29k miles.

I'm gonna put about a $10,500 estimate on that if they go with all new toyo parts, make sure you tell them you want OE parts on it and if you have s body shop you use don't let the insurance company tell you where to take it
My customers tell me that all the time the ins. Co. Telling them where to take
F-u it's my truck I'll take it where I want
I own my own auto body shop

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
I am betting 14k in damage! Also I second what everyone else has told you, go after "diminished value" on the truck. Having a "salvage" title decreases the value significantly, if they total it... I doubt they will. However the wreck will decrease its value significantly.
    Paint: 4,000
    Rear door: 1,000
    Driver door:1,500
    Front quarter panel:1,500
    Hood:1,000
    Bed and additional malformations: 1,000
Front end and related equip: 4,000

That is just my guess, I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert or do I clam to be.
