A couple of weeks ago my son's 08 Tundra's battery was dead after school. We jumped it off, it started fine but would no accelerate above 1800 RPM. The code was P2118. Not having much time on my hands I just ordered a new throttle body, I have the same results. I've tried the idle thing for 10 minutes, it didn't work. I've read that you should drive it a couple of days and would relearn but its hard to drive down the high way at 15mph. Any ideas? What's my next step? All help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Have you checked the fuses? Specifically the ETC Fuse?

I looked up the code p2118. It's common that the fuse for the ETCS blows when jump starting a vehicle with drive by wire systems

That is a good warning or reminder when considering just running your battery until it dies. Though its age may already be in the warning zone.

I would like to make the general observation that these low speed, low RPM conditions mimic the modern day "limp mode" that many vehicles will enter into if the on board diagnostics detect a problem. Someone not familiar with this system would notice "it won't go "it is sluggish" "it will only go 15 mph and I had to get on the shoulder." I can't tell you with any certainty the reason behind limp mode but the preservation of "shit" for warranty purposes has always been my first thought. And there, technically, can be a benefit to the vehicle owner if there is truly is a condition (think low low low engine oil) where not running the engine at full operating condition will keep from doing further damage.

So I'm just wondering if the OP has a condition that is signaling limp mode. I don't have a list of conditions that will do that. But it could be something as minute as the brake fluid level in the master cylinder is 3 tablespoons low.

And now the dad gammit lawyer part: YMMV.
