Hey guys. I'm looking at these 2 tires in a 305/55r20. I'm not really sure I need a E or F load tire (no towing or serious offroading).

But I'm sort of confused on what rating these 2 tires are. Can anyone comment and which may be best for what I'm looking for.

    Ridge Grappler - 305/55r20
    305/55R20 116Q
    Stock number 217860

    Terra Grappler G2 - 305/55r20
    305/55R20 116S XL
    Stock number 215290

116Q is the SL- standard load. That would ride the best and is the same load rating as the stock tires. The 116sXL is XL load, one step higher load rating than standard. Either would be fine on your truck.

Don't install F load on a half ton truck, would ride like a covered wagon.

Here is more info on load ratings. Scroll down for the load rating chart. https://www.discounttire.com/learn/...MIk8T4vdPW8wIVKGxvBB1flQS7EAAYASAAEgI7rPD_BwE

Awesome, thank you for the info! Makes a lot more sense now.

It looks like Toyo R/T's come in a SL as well. But it looks like those and the 2 Nitto's listed above are the only non E or F load tires available in that size.

Wonder if any members on here are running any of these 3 tires and how they like them. Would be nice to have a lighter tire that's not as stiff as a E/F load.

I run Terra grapplers on my Tacoma and enjoy them. Does well in rain, sand, dirt and pavement. Haven't tried in mud / snow but heard they do not perform that well, but not an issue for me.

Yes, installing larger than stock tires on a Tundra usually means moving to E load. There are few standard and XL options. But E load is not too bad on a Tundra. I run them in 275/70-18, certainly firmer. Wish there were C load options available, that would be the perfect load rating on a half ton truck.
