Just my opinion but I wouldn't recommend 5.29s unless you're going with 37s or are constantly towing. I find 'em a little low for 35s.

It's important (I think) to note that I'm running a Bully Dog tune as well.
The gears made a big difference. The truck is downright snappy and will easily spin the tires, currently 35s. ( Not that I wanna spin the tires, they're expensive). I'm turning about 2,200 rpms at 65 on the highway where it used to be 1,800. It holds 6th on slight grades where it used to downshift. The torque converter feels hooked up now and the tranny seems happier. I only have +/- 200 mi. on the gears so far. My mpg seems to have dropped by 1 mpg but it's too soon to be sure. These are my initial impressions and by no means conclusive, I just don't have enough time with 'em yet.

    Warren,

IMHO 200 miles is early yet, I would give it some time.

How do you like 4:88 for 35s and 37s?

I completely agree with you Greg! I should've been clearer about these just being my initial impressions and far from conclusive due to a lack of data.

I think (just my opinion) your personal driving habits and preferences are super relevant here. Are you on the freeway a lot or more surface streets? How frequently do you tow? How frequently do you drive long distance?
For me I would do 4.88 for 35s but I plan to run 37s so I'm hoping the 5.29s are gonna be perfect. Right now, with very few miles, I feel the 5.29s are too low for 35s...... Again, that's my opinion, others may think differently.

I was looking at gears, my truck probably sits around 6200lbs its not 4x4 only 2wd, i have off road bumpers and rock sliders. There's a few other things I have on it. I have towed with it recently supercharged it can move but with gears I'm sure it would excel. I have 35s currently. Just reading feed back from 5.29 and 4.88 drivers.

Not many 5.29s out there yet. With 35s I'd go with the 4.88s. It's personal preference but I feel 5.29s are too low with 35s (my current setup)

Your one and me. Probably a handful but not much with 5.29’s being advertised as installed.

So I'm running a 34.3" tire. I talked with three different experienced truck/4x4/performance people and discussed my setup ( heavy loaded Platinum to start, tires, lift, sliders, supercharger , added sound deadener and audio gear/subs, Line-X'd, rack, etc, etc, etc... Estimated 400-500#'s) I tow only short trips (under 10 miles) 3-5x a year, and I drive mostly back roads daily with almost zero off-roading.

All three recommended 5.29's without any information about what others have said. So I'm curllious as to why they may seem too low for those who have them already. I thought I was was heading for 4.88's until I spoke with these very trustworthy opinions. I just want to make sure before I pulled the proverbial trigger.
So @831Tun @joeguam ... Care to elaborate on the 5.29 experience?
Thanks for any real world thoughts.
