    Enjoy the dependability of Tundra. I love my 2002 limited access cab bought new in Oct 2001. Solid as a rock and going strong at 272,000 plus miles. Enjoy the ownership experience.

    After 36,000 miles, or whatever the basic warranty is now, don't trust the Toyota tech's advice on any major repairs. At about 190,000 miles, I had a severe vibration in the drive line between 35 and 65 MPH. I advised the Toyota tech that it was probably U-joints. He told me that they put the truck up on the lift and could see wheel bounce which indicated a bent axle and/or a differential problem. The price estimate was $6000 to rebuild the rear axle and differential. I think that he was just blowing me off as at 190,000 miles, he did not think I would spend the money to fix the problem.

    I walked away from a dealership where I had bought a new a 2002 Tundra, a new 2007 Camry and a new 2010 RAV/4 and have never returned.

    I took the Tundra to a Cottman Transmission service center and they test drove the Tundra and agreed that there was a vibration in the drive line. They put the Tundra on a lift and could not see any wobble or tire bounce. They pulled the drive line and sent it off for a dynamic balance analysis. This analysis discovered that the front half of the drive shaft (Tundras have a 2 piece drive shaft) was out of specification. Cottman's replaced the front member with a new OEM DANA part, replaced three u-joints and the central support for $790. That was about 90,000 miles ago and the Tundra drives like a new vehicle.

    I will probably buy a new Tundra some day but this one is paid for. I have not had a truck payment since 2005.

    Thank you for the welcomes. I tried to wait for the "new" Tundra, but figure this one is pretty well sorted out. I feel like I got a good value when compared to the "big three" automakers, and think this one will meet my needs, and then some. I take care of my stuff and am looking forward to many years with my new truck.
