New Tundra Owner with Questions

Hi All. First time Tundra owner here. I got my new cement Tundra SR5 with TRD off road back in January and like a lot of you I have the modification bug. So I am starting with swapping out the grille to a Limited insert (purchased used) with the color matched surround which I got from Roman in Cool Springs. Interesting thing......the Limited grille is from a 2020.....upon removing my current grille, also a 2020, I noticed that the emblems are different on the back side where they attach. After searching the part numbers on the emblems I realized that my new truck has a Land Cruiser grille! (insert at least) Is this a common practice for Toyota? Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?

I did read the "Ultimate Parts" thread and also the "Tundra Grille How To Get What You Want" thread before I started the project and they helped me out a lot.
If I understand correctly, based on Toyota parts, all 2020 emblems are the same part number regardless of the Tundra build so I expected my 2020 SR5 emblem to swap over to the 2020 Limited insert. It won't fit because it has a different tab configuration so I looked up the part number and found that the emblem from my 2020 Tundra is a Land Cruiser emblem. According to Toyota it does not fit any of the Tundra models.
Toyota Part 53141 71010 is what is on my Tundra, it should be 90975 02159.

 

Hey, so here's something I just found out in the past week in speaking to another user. I also have 2020 and bought a 2018 grille but it swapped PERFECTLY, the emblem was a match. Turns out, my truck VIN reveals it came off the production line Summer of 2019. Whereas yours might have come off the production line a little later. They switched the emblems mid-production year!

 

You nailed it....the part number that I listed above does show that it fits a 2019 Tundra.....Thank you!

 

Yep! Another user even messaged Roman with MY order number and Roman said it shouldn't fit... but once you run the VIN, you see the discrepancy in months that they came off of the line. Pretty shitty of Toyota, but I'm glad I didn't have to buy a new emblem! Anyway, if you need the older style grille, I'm selling my Limited one!

 

Funny that Toyota does not list the Tundra in the fitment section of the part page though!

Thank you but I already have purchased the Limited insert...luckily it came with the emblem so I won't have to break the bank on that....I will have to break the bank on other mods!
