So I finally pulled the trigger on a '16 Tundra and man do I love this truck! I've always loved Toyota and had a '12 Tacoma a few years back but ultimately it was too small. Being a Ford guy, I went back to an F-150 (I trade WAY too often) and have since had a '12, '13 & '15. I can't say that I have any major complaints about Ford, really just first world problems in that I wanted something meaner and tougher looking with HD Radio and navigation w/o paying over $40K. I also love my wife's '15 Highlander Limited and have had my eye on Tundras since they changed the body style in '14. Anyway, loving everything about the truck! Not near as peppy as my Ford's 2.7L Ecoboost engine but you can't beat twin turbo for that and I'm enjoying the rumble of a V8 again in lieu! Next up are simple, cheap mods such as front window tint, LED headlights, fog lights & interior lights and some door handle covers to either chrome or white. Also had the dealer remove the pinstripes. The '90's called and wanted them back.....Tundy.jpg

Welcome. There's always someone looking to change their chrome door handles for black ones. I'm sure if you're patient, you'll find someone to swap with.

Call me 'old fashioned' but I like the look of chrome in moderation. I think they would like nice with the TUNDRA badge and running boards but that's about it. I used the chrome overlays on my old white Tacoma and they looked nice so I'm considering getting some of those again and just sanding and painting white to match. Much easier and cheaper than complete handle replacements.

Your truck, your call brother!!

In case you change your mind, the previous link I posted was for INTERIORS, this is just for the tailgate handle but could be applied to door handles just as well!

Thanks for this but I'm not concerned with the interior handles. It's the exterior that I want to change. The plastic overlays that stick on with 3M worked well on my Tacoma and looked stock.

....aaaaaaand then I saw your next comment! haha!

    Welcome from CO.

Those 2.7L ecoboost motors haul ass. My buddy has one in his personal work truck and another friend has the 3.5L. I think the 2.7L is faster for some reason.

Welcome from CO. Great choice. Not a fan of eco boost at all. Maybe good on the street but haven't been impressed at all from what few I come across up in the mountains.

I was a ford mech....really busy! Witnessed too many turbos come apart and too many digits in repair bills, now I know what I never want to own for years on end, welcome and enjoy your investment!

I think it may have to do with the weight between the 2.7L and 3.5L. Believe it or not, the 2.7 is the fastest 0-60 half ton on the market. But in the end I'm looking for bad-assery and not just a fast truck. If I wanted fast I'd buy a sports car.

I was really interested in th 2.7, but a few things really scared me off. The crazy amount of boost, plastic oil pan and standard stop/start feature. I like that Ford is trying new stuff, but after witnessing my two buddies Fords CONSTANTLY being broken down, I would be too scared to try anything that new.

Anyhoo, welcome to the forum. Awesome truck and good call on removing the pin stripes!

I can't say that I had any problems except for a fuel pump sensor going out that caused my check engine light to come on. I didn't even know fuel pumps had sensors. I remember changing the fuel pump on my first truck with my dad which was an 88 dodge Dakota and now they have sensors! At any rate, the start/stop feature is a bit annoying and hard to get used to but there's a button on the dash where you can easily turn it off. As of now only the 2.7 has it but rumor is that all vehicles/engines in the future at least by Ford will have it.

I will say this. I'm a big fan of American made products which is one of the things I love about F-150s. By switching to a Tundra it's STILL more American than a Silverado or Sierra which is hecho en Mexico! And my tundra was built right down the road from me so win-win!
