Hey Tundra owners! I am looking to graduate to the big boys and HOPEFULLY soon. Long story short, I made the mistake in settling on a '17 Tacoma TRD OR about 6 months ago on a lease. I HATE the truck. Driving two hours and my back is killing me. I can last longer on my Harley than I can this truck! I hate the way it drives. Can never decide what gear to be in and FORGET about towing anything....

So I went to the dealership today to see about getting out of this leased Taco and into a Tundra. Honestly, I did not know that I would like the Limited because of the leather, but I like the JBL stereo and the sunroof. My Taco has those and I HIGHLY enjoy the tunes and the sun. But I do not like the grill. I prefer the honeycomb looking grill. So..... decisions, decisions... But I guess first thing is first, try to get the best deal possible without losing too much. I know I will lose a little, just hopefully not too much or the deal cannot happen...

Welcome from CO. I have the limited with the JBL highest option they had - it sounds like crap.

I have a 95 Tacoma with 365K miles on it so I had high expectations for the new Taco. Needless to say I am highly disappointed.

Interesting... I like the way the JBL sounds in the Taco... Is it the BEST system? No... but definitely better than stock.

I had the JBL in my old (2009) Tacoma too. Sounded great. Tundra? Nope.

Shitty speakers is my guess. I’m not sure if Toyota went a different route based on costs (probably) or what but I hate it.

    Welcome!
My $0.02 is to get the package you want up front and just swap out the little things that you don't like. Grilles are easy to swap and relatively inexpensive.

The package that I like or the package that I can afford..... :(

Seriously though, I would love the Platinum but that is WAAAAAY over budget for me. Limited might be stretching it. But like I said, I have to see what the deal comes back with.

I hear you; I ended up settling a little to get the numbers where they needed to be.
the SR5 upgrade package was looking nice, but just over what I wanted to spend.

but my thinking is whatever the truck doesn't have on it, I can do myself later!
(except maybe adding a sunroof. lol)

Obviously stay in budget...but you can still ask for things or just add them later when you can afford them. I went with SR5 cause that's what I could afford...just added the pro grill and color match bumper and dechromed the badges. Now I love the way it looks. The only thing I missed out on that I wanted was the sunroof.
