Dear all, I'm excited to share my first photo of my new Tundra. It took me since last November to find one that had all the packages I was looking for. She's a fully loaded TRD off-road crewmax with longbed. I'm in love and am looking at tire options keeping the 20" TRD wheels.

I have been reading the threads until blue and have narrowed things down. I would be very grateful for any pics from y'all who have the same wheels with no lift and one of these tire sizes. I have found some pics online but would be so glad to see any more if you care to post.

I've limited my choices to BFG KO2, Cooper AT3 XLT, Toyo Open Country A/T III and Nitto (not sure which) but need them to be 3 snowflake certified. I don't want to get a lift either. I appreciate your help, so glad to finally have my Tundra! I'm so impressed with her. Cheers!

Thank you so much Reihengti for your photos of your Pirelli Scorpions! I have been looking at these as well, I noted that they are less expensive than the other tires I listed. I mostly know of Pirelli from racing so it's cool to learn that they now make Offroad tires as well. My sense is that these are a great value. Are these the A/T Plus with the 116H rating? They look really sharp with the 1" level and spacers. Thank you again for posting!

Thank you. These are the at plus 10ply e-rated tire. They ride incredibly well. I have cooper discoverer at3 4s on my 2014 f150 company truck and the pirelli's are less noisy and feel softer. I can't comment on offroad capability yet.

Re: tire pricing on r20 tires I’ve noticed prices can get crazy high right now. Im also looking at the Falken Wildpeaks A/T3W they seem fantastic in photos and on YouTube. I’ve never seen any in real life yet however. I’ve used BFG for many years and think I’m ready for a change. Toyo are also really interesting to me.

If you’re running larger R20 Falken or Toyo on your TRD wheels pls post a pic I’d love to see how they look! Where are you buying your Falken or Toyo online? Many tires sites (at least the ones I’m looking at) can be way over $400 and sometimes over $500 a tire for the sizes approaching 35”.

I’m trying to see the difference between 35X11.5r20 vs 285/65r20, 275/65r20 etc. Anyone have experience with both Toyo Open Country A/T III and Falken WP A/T3W?

No suggestions for tires. Just wanted to say congrats on the awesome truck! Exactly what I wanted and almost what I got except I ended up with the 5.5ft bed.

Hi LukeS! Awesome my fellow Army Green bro! Thanks for your kind words! Just hit 1000 miles today and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll look forward to seeing pics of your truck, we should make a 3rd Gen Army Green thread!

I decided on my tires on Friday, I’m going with another set of Falkens, the arrive next week. My truck came with the Falken Wildpeak 65/60R20 AT3WA. I ordered the Falken Wildpeak AT3W LT285/65R20 127R.

After looking at hundreds of 3rd Gen pics of tires on the TRD wheels I keep coming back to feeling that the 35” looks best in the wheel well. The 285/65 is pretty much identical to a 35X11.5 which is the largest that can fit in our trucks (in my understanding) without rub on mudflaps and not needing to pin back fender or use spacers. I’ll report back on my findings! Cheers!!

Had both on my wife’s 4R albeit in a 17” wheel diameter. Both amazing tires in dry rain and snow. Falken’s are heavier. Feel that up a grade but that’s it.

I went with a 275-65-20. I didn’t need to do any lift but I did put a leveling kit on it. Nice truck you have man.

Hi MaineTundraDE thanks for your post! Wow it looks like we have a very similar truck! SWEET!!!!!! Congratulations and I appreciate your kind words and pics of your ride! Very glad to see your pics of the 275-65-20 setup on the TRD wheels! Looking very good indeed. My tires just arrived today they are Falken Wildpeak 285-65-R20 and look very beefy and fantastic HOWEVER they all indicate clearly that they are Made in China. This is a big surprise for me as my current Falkens are made in Japan. I have been doing some searching online and have seen various posts re: concerns with some Falkens made outside of Japan. I must say that I am very disappointed as I am set on 285-65-R20, or 33X11.5/R20, or maybe as low as 295/60/R20. I am worried that 295/65/R20 might not fit and I prefer to have things go on w/o major extra work.

Thanks PermaFrostTRD for having posted re: your and your wife's Falkens on the 4runner that is great to hear they're excellent tires, were they made in Japan or another country by any chance? ELiDirtTundra I will definitely post pics after the new tires are installed! I feel fortunate that I ordered the Falkens via Amazon, I should be able to drop them off without any shipment or restocking charges.

I am now looking for Made in Japan or Made in USA tires of the sizes I mentioned. I really like the Japanese Falken Wildpeaks, if you guys have any ideas how I can source the country of origin that would be great. Now looking at Toyo 35X11.5R20 (where are they manufactured?) or perhaps Recon Grappler (not sure if they are 3snowflake which I need though).
Back to the drawing board but glad that I will not compromise w/tires I don't totally feel comfortable with, especially for the price (although got these for $340/tire which is much better than some other prices I've seen!).

I'm going to make another post about the mods I've installed so far: namely Talon's garage cat shield, blacking out the Toyota emblems, adding the safe and rear lettering, red TRD emphasis on grille. I have the TRD Pro grille and Westcott camera relocation bracket but not sure if I will install them, I don't want to have to recalibrate the radar and cameras etc. I'm really happy with everything so far except the gas tank door! They really cheaped out on it on the Limited TRD Off-Road, can't lock it and anyone can open and siphon! Has anyone created a mod for the gas door? Thanks guys

Some of the tire builds on similar Army Green Tundras on R20 that have inspired me!

    295/60/R20

35X12.5/R20 (needs some mods but I love the look)

I'm following this closely since I'm also looking at tires, but want to stick with the stock rims. Love the looks of the 20" trd's and personally don't see a reason to change them.

Your truck is absolutely awesome Luke. At first I thought I wanted the Lunar Rock but now I am really preferring our Army Green. I'm getting more in-person compliments on the truck and on our color than I have ever received in any other vehicle. I'll bet it's the same for all of you guys. Luke I think I see the telltale layer of paint protection film on the front of your truck! Bonus!!! I totally agree with you that the 20" TRD Wheels are fantastic I also specifically wanted them, one of the reasons I went with the Limited. Disappointed about not getting the tires on today but I really want tires made here in the States, or in Japan on my Tundra. Nothing against other countries, just a personal preference representing the two countries whose hands were most involved in designing and building our trucks. I have run BFG for a long time and I think I'm ready for a change. Will post findings!

Agreed! Definitely getting compliments on the truck/color. The Toyota website definitely didn't do it justice. I had initially wrote it off as a color I didn't want until I saw one in person and that changed my mind.

Sharp eye on the paint protection film!

I want to thank you bcj001 for your awesome post showing us before and after how the stock tires compare to the 35X11.5R20 look w/Nitto Recon Grapplers on the TRD 20" wheels with no lift. This is an awesome look, I think better than 285/65/20.

If you're reading this and run 35X11.5 of any type (Toyo, etc) on 20" TRD wheels I would love to see any other pics to compare, if your time allows. Thank you!

Hi MaineTundraDE thanks for your 275/65R20 post yesterday it’s been really helpful! Your tires look like BFG T/A KO2s is this correct? If you don’t mind I’d love to know your thoughts re whether you feel happy with the size, overall satisfaction, any regrets/think you could have gone larger, pricing etc. I appreciate your first hand observations and impressions on how this size fits your truck!

275/65R20 definitely seems to be among the most popular/commonly available in the metric 34” diameter, selection seems way better (at least from what I’ve seen so far) than the more “exotic” sizes like 295/60; 285/65; etc.

I run KO2s on my 4runner (33X11.5R15) and Sequoia (275/70/R17). They’ve been great. After my recent experience with country of origin on the Falkens, I’ve been looking into manufacturing locations of various O/R tires.

Even tires I thought were Japanese made (Falken, Toyo) seem often to be made in plants abroad. It seems like BF Goodrich and Cooper may be best bets for being made in the US, although even Cooper is manufacturing in China.
    https://coopertire.com.cn/en/cooper-introduce

BFG although being owned by the French/Michelin still seems to be always made in the US in Tuscaloosa, AL, Wooburn, IN and Opelika, AL. This means a lot to me.

I feel like today I’m leaning back towards the BFGs, I had thought I wanted to try something new but if I can’t get a Japanese made Toyo 35X11.5R20 or Wildpeak 285/75R20 or similar it’s definitely BFG. Cheers and many thanks again!

Check out the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's. They have 285/65r20, 295/60r20, 35x12.5r20 and all are 3PMS certified and made in the USA.

This is the Canadian Tundra featured in a previous YT video in this thread with Toyo 295/60R20 tires. Check out how the Canadian Limited TRD Off-road trucks get the TRD Pro shifter and steering wheel! I want that red leather stripe! Haha ;)

Hi RookieEP! I noticed the paint protection film edges on LukeS’s awesome truck (post #15) in this thread. I was zooming in to check it out, and noticed because I have the same protection film on my truck (it came factory installed). Apparently it’s really helpful for rocks and other debris from the road. Some threads have mentioned that the color may change sooner but so far I haven’t noticed anything, looks perfect and is practically invisible!

Re my ongoing tire search, I’m still researching endlessly. I have to admit that I kind of prefer the 18” tire option “look”; I really like the sidewalls and the 295/70R18 are perfect for me. With that said I also really like the stock TRD wheels and don’t want to change them. So I’m committed to an R20 for this build.

I’m really struggling between 295/60R20 which I think is pretty sweet. But then I think maybe I should go bigger to a 285/65R20 or 33X11.5R20. I’m confident all of these will fit with no lift based on what I’ve read. I also want a US or Japan made tire.

I inquired with Tirerack and they sent me DOT country of origin info for some tires which was awesome. For those of you sticking with the 20” TRD wheels, if you’re in the mood pls LMK your experience why you chose the one you did, and your thoughts after install, thx in advance!

I just did a simple level (2 1/2”) and put on 35s (285/65R20s // 34.6x11.5 actually). Falken Wildpeak AT3W. They ride great, better than stock in my opinion. Mine is a TRD Sport so they are slightly different stock wheels 2461557E-8683-4964-A87C-57C286A7EADB.jpg 8E9D6BFF-7F4A-4033-9B8D-0F8A8323E06C.jpg

Thank you so much for your post and images SkiBum95! It's awesome to see your amazing Lunar Rock TRD Sport! I was waiting forever for a Lunar Rock and couldn't find one! I love my Army Green but Lunar Rock is so awesome too!! (Maybe...dare I say... even slightly more awesome? lol :) I really like the stance and look of your 285/65R20. Those are the same tires I ordered (and received) from Amazon last week! Are yours made in China by any chance? I am sure there is zero issue but I'm just curious. What 2.5' level did you use? Yours is the best pic I have seen so far of 285/65R20. The look is outstanding. And I feel like this tire size of 34.6"/ 11.2" is kind of optimal with even better stats than the 35X11.5 for some makers. PS I also have the red TRD decal on mine! I haven't done the Tundra logo below it however, is yours color matched Lunar Rock? Sweet! Cheers and THANKS SB95!

Here are some pics of some of my mods so far. This is the PT972-89200 safe installed, the install was so easy and I feel that it fills the console so nicely and gives so many options for storing valuables, personal protection, and it is a very nice safe. Highly recommended! I checked BAM, Sparks, and Elmhurst and found the best price (for me) was at BAM, though they were sold out at the time.

Yes, mine are made in China. I agree. I think the size is perfect (and less expensive too.) I was concerned about the ride but have been amazed at how well it rides.

As for the level kit, I just did a basic spacer kit from Fat Bob’s. No name brand that I know of. It’s relatively inexpensive but it got the 35s on w no tire rub at all.

I like the Lunar Rock but my wife would’ve preferred your color. She calls this “sea-foam green”. Ha. It happens to be the only one I could get in the next 6 months and I needed a good truck for moving some horses.

Oh and yes my Tundra decal is color matched Lunar Rock. I think it’s from a company called Texas Decal King. I did the matte black TUNDRA on the tailgate too. They were all great quality.
