I just purchased a (new to me) 2014 Tundra 1794. It's my first Toyota (always been a GM fan), so I don't have any experience working on them or modding them. I'm switching from an 05 Silverado Z71 that I've done all of the work on myself from stereo, to suspension and front end work. It's been a great truck, but I was looking at upgrading to something with a bit more power. I had a friend of a friend selling the 1794 edition at a price I couldn't pass up, so I'm over here hoping the grass is greener (or at least just as green) haha I've always heard about Toyota's long term reliability and I plan to put that to the test.

I'm not extremely active posting on forums, but I do enjoy learning things from others and discussing topics I find interesting every now and then. Looking forward to learning a few things here.

It's been raining like crazy here lately (north Texas), but I'll eventually get some when it clears up and I can get her washed lol

You joined the wrong forum then, you'll be posting and active before you know it. Lot of great people and info here. Not to mention, get your checkbook ready. You are going to see things you've never dreamed of doing to your truck and will be wanting to do it quick, ha. BTW.. :worthless:

Haha see my post above about the pictures.

Yeah it's crazy how much aftermarket support there is for the Tundra. I've already gone down quite a few rabbit holes and I've owned it for 2 days lol

Welcome from North Texas as well. I'm in a similar boat. Bought a 2020 SR5 and looking at the best bang for your buck mods. Started with a Lomax Bed Liner and LED fog lights. Next up OEM LED headlights and...

The only problem I have with exhaust is that I don't enjoy the noise anymore lol I have a borla on my Chevy and it's pretty tame (almost stock) at idle and cruising, but acceleration and stuff it sounds aggressive. I'm to the age where I just prefer good sounding music and quiet now lol so stereo upgrade recommendations (as much as I'm dreading them after reading all of the complications with upgrading the JBL system) would be welcomed.

I actually did a complete sound deadening job on my Chevy (resonix butyl constraint layer with CCF and MLV in the doors, floor, and rear cab). It really improved the interior sound so I'll probably avoid anything that takes me back to level of cab noise I had before that lol

It's come a turd floater up here lately right?? Haha
Mine came with the bed liner and a tonneau on it already. I'm actually wanting to get the color matched grille surround, one of the console safes/organizers, and some good looking headlights first. Then wheels, then possibly leveling kit, then stereo upgrades (it really is a bad sounding system for their "premium" sound).... Etc, etc., Etc., Etc.

I'm looking forward to it though. I really enjoyed working on my Chevy and building it the way I wanted it. By the end that thing fit me like a glove. The options are much more plentiful for this Tundra it looks like, so I've got some homework to do

All service since about 35k miles (when my friend got it) has been done at the dealership at regular intervals. Including diff fluid, and brake fluid flush. Never towed with it and never took it off roading (4wd was more for slick conditions and camping in north Texas) I've got the 100k mile service soon for the trans and coolant flush, and I'm debating having it done by the dealership or not haha

I'm confident it's been very well maintained, and I'm excited to get to work on making it even better.

Nice to have records. I would rest pretty easy with that in mind. 100k service would be a good opportunity to get to know the truck yourself, if your into that. Watch out on this forum, it tends to lighten your wallet if you spend too much time on it. :spending:

I'll probably have a shop do the tras fluid change just because I hate the mess (at least in my experience on my Chevys it's just taking the pan off And fluid going everywhere.) But I tend do wind up doing most stuff myself when I get a quote from a shop to do something that'll take me a couple of hours haha

I dont think you NEED to drop the pan on these trucks. Toyota doesnt recommend changing the filter or opening the pan since there has been issues with bolts breaking and such. I have seen a few threads on posts on here about people opening up their trans filter after years and hundreds of thousands of miles and them still being super clean. I would just do the simple drain and fill.

I'm surprised they wouldn't recommend the filter change/flush. I haven't looked into it too much. If I can get it done relatively easy, I'll probably take care of it myself in the garage.
