Bought a used Cali SR5 Tundra about a month ago and have been lurking on the forum since. Love my first gen! High mileage but Engine/transmission is in great shape, frame is perfect, body is a bit beat but expected. Already fixed some things. Went to the junkyard and found that the map light housing for the Sienna (some models) is similar (not exact; center circle is off) to the Tundra. Ashtray was missing and replaced with a Sequoia which fit perfectly. Missing original sun visors but replaced with the Sequoia I found. A bit big but will work. Found 2 center hubs from the same Sequoia which was awesome (need 2 more). All in all I love the truck and will be very useful with some tlc. Cheers from Cali!

Welcome! I recently got a first gen SR5 that’s pretty beat up, too. It’s needed a lot of TLC but my mechanic said that he’s only ever seen one of these 4.7L V8s die, and that it was at 320k miles and belonged to a guy who refused to do any maintenance other than oil changes.

Thanks for the welcome! Will post pics soon.

Currently have 272k miles and runs great. Truck has new Denso radiator and water pump plus new denso coils. Did the map light mod (removing the silver plate) which is amazing (ahh the little things). Added the resistor advised on this forum to the passenger headlamp after installing LED lights (resistor allows for the fog lamps to switch on instead of the high beams); caution, the ballast gets hot quickly so recommend attaching to metal away from wires.
This center hub caps are expensive so hunting for two more at the yard. Looking to update the fog lamps to LEDs also very soon. My father in law is a mechanic of over 40 years and checked the truck...first advice was do not touch the transmission fluid. Will flush radiator and will add pink performance juice from Toyota soon.

Looking to get some running boards from the yard. I think the Sequoia running boards fit so will take measurements and double check. The funny thing is that Tundras are rarely in the junkyard (per the employees there). Reasonably priced Tundras are getting hard to find on Craigslist recently... saw two and were gone within weeks.

Also looking to install a backup camera as I already bent a handrail which did nothing to the truck but did damage to the rail (didn’t even feel it; need to be careful with this beast).
