2021 Tundra, 5 lug rims. I bought used MT (Discount Tire house brand, discontinued) 18" rims to replace my factory Tundra 20" wheels. Discovered the factory lug nuts would not work, as they had a shoulder too large to fit in the new rim holes. So Big O Tires sold me new lug nuts (and new tires). My issue: Big O informed me that the front brake pads needed replaced, so I did this myself, and discovered the lug nuts were only able to be rotated about 4 - 5 times before solid rim contact. Is this safe, or should I think about replacing the lug studs with longer ones?

Picture of the wheels and lugs would help. If the bolt holes on the wheels are large enough for extended shank lugs, those may solve the issue

My aftermarket rims use conical lug nuts and I had similar concerns. The MFG suggested I use (extended thread) ET style conical lug nuts. More info https://help.summitracing.com/knowledgebase/article/SR-05022/en-us

The ET conical lug nuts come in different overall lengths. I prefer the shorter lower profile lug nuts and bought these if that helps. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CX1SNKJ4?

If you kept the original spare tire, then suggest storing 5 of the original lugs nuts in the truck for use with the spare tire.

To "KNABORES", "Jim LE 1301", "2020_Tundra", and "Ely010606", thanks. Took me three minutes to type that, with all the... well, anyway. I was notified that my follow post about the wheels I don't want anymore may have violated some rules here, so will try to remove. Been here five minutes and... well, anyway.
