I was gifted a 1989 coleman newport pop up camper. The only thing it needs is some TLC at very most. I am in the process of redoing the roof. I have new roof corners and using poly caulking and also using eternabond for seam seal. I need to figure out the easy way to repaint the top of the roof which is metal. Aluminum to be exact. I would like to get away with not having to strip the whole top of the camper of old paint if I can. anyone have any insite and help to make this eaiser on me lol one i get the corners done and roof i will post pictures.

I totally re-furbed a 1990 Scamper. Was a lot of fun actually. The top had some hail dimples that didn't compromise the aluminum but left some bare aluminum exposed around some of the dimples. I cleaned it up and used Rustoleum dual primer/paint spray cans. Came out quite well. Have you checked out water pump, seals.etc? I refurbed the furnace, refrig. You would be surprised how many parts are available even going back to 1989 vintage.

Not yet. Little too cold in Iowa so i'm waiting for warmer weather on that. Got a heated garage so taking advantage of cold weather to do the other things on it.

It's so true! I've been able to find parts for our pop up and it dates back to the 70s. Bright yellow metal cabinets inside. lol It's so frickin ugly that it's cool.

Here in AZ they do a lot of rolled/flat roofs on the homes. The final coating is a white elastimeric/rubberized roll on roof coating.

A couple of coats is pretty thick and pretty flexible. I bet something like that would work great. Exactly what I was going to use on our pop-up but in the 19 years we had it it amazingly enough, never leaked. At least not through the seams. Roof vent was a different story.

I had to re seal the roof vent on mine and I replaced the crank cable that was getting a bit frayed.

I've got a Camping World near me that I used to get my parts from. I got a lot of good info from their service guys about how to approach certain fixes.

We used the crap out of ours during the time we had it. Probably put 50k miles on it. The only time I we wished we had something else were the times we were popping up for a night somewhere and moving on the next morning (road tripping). Awesome if you're staying for a few days though.

    Edit to add pics.
