    Hello all

Let me start by saying I am a BIG researcher. It's both a blessing and a curse as in the end I will have no regrets but the time it takes to finalize a purchase makes for a slow burn. As such, it took me a couple of months to hone in on a wheel/tire combination for my 2021 Silver Sky Limited CM. It didn't help that Covid forced me to wait a few more months on top of that. First wheels: I read as much as I could on the forum about sizing, lifts, offsets, BMC, etc., Watched a lot of YT videos too. With a very specific build in mind that was not too aggressive but enough to get me out to the woods/snow with confidence while simultaneously supporting my needs as a daily driver here in Southern California, at the beginning of April I ordered a set of Method 18" 701's in Matte Black with +25 offset. With my stock 275/55/R20's at a +60 offset, I didn't want the setup to stick out too much so avoided all +0 offset offerings. Even though the 701's were backordered, I decided to wait. And wait. And wait. So I pivoted, canceled the order, then ordered a set of 18" 703's with +35 offset. After waiting two months for those, I learned that they too were on backorder for possibly another 2 months. I didnt want to wait any longer so eventually ordered a set of 18" 305NV in matte black with a +25 offset. No where near my first choice in looks but it only took a few days to get them. For tires, I went with Toyo Open Country ATIII's which is what I wanted from the getgo. Again not wanting this to domino into a bunch of mods, I went with 275/70/R18 which were still bigger than the stock tires that came on the my truck. I know there is a lot of chatter about what fits, but I did nothing to my truck except remove the mud flaps, remove that little plastic fairing in the front of the wheels, and then loosened the 4 screws on the front inner plastic wheel well and pulled it forward towards the bumper, then tightened the screws again. This gave me an extra inch of clearance. I have NO rubbing whatsoever and what I consider to be the perfect amount of poke. In addition to the RCI rocksliders already installed, near future plans include adding a set of Bushwacker OE black fender flares, Front Runner Slimline roof rack, and eventually front and rear bumpers (tbd but probably C4), and some Fox shocks.

So below are photos of a STOCK suspension with the aforementioned Method 305's with Toyo OC ATIII's. Sure, the next size up tire would've looked better but again, I didnt want to go down an expensive modding rabbit hole. Personally, I am digging the way it currently looks. I hope this helps out those who are unsure of looks, size, and fitment. IMG_4248.jpgIMG_4249.jpg IMG_4250.jpgIMG_4251 2.jpg IMG_4253.jpg

    Looks perfect to me.

How does the ride currently compare to stock with the beefier tires?

The truck came with Bridgestone Alenza's which are quiet highway tires. There's a wee little road noise but to be expected from an AT tire like the Open Country's. Ive only had the Toyo's on for a day but haven't noticed anything too crazy.

I like those. It looks really clean.
I have 20's on my 08 and want to go to a 17 0r 18 with a tire at least as tall as the stoke 285/55-20, but much narrower.

Shopping around today for that size tire, I noticed that General Grabber makes the ATX in an SL version @ 275/70/18. Along with the NVs , I could be looking at a lighter set up as well as more sidewall. Win win in my book.

Thanks WVI. I'm pretty sure anything bigger than what I have would likely need some additional work to the truck. This is my first pickup so I'm still learning (thanks to this forum) and just wanted to start slow and have money for other things I want to get for it.

LOVE this... considering this size, but still considering the 285/70R18 in the same tire.

Personal opinion if it would fit with minimal mods?

I settled on this size because shocks are on backorder too and I needed something sooner than later. I'm pretty much at the fitment threshold with my current stock setup so I would think that 285/70/18 will for sure rub with minimal mods.

    I appreciate your advice!

    After careful consideration…

I went with 275/70R18 in my preferred tire…

Appreciate the pics here. I have the same silver sky limited. I know I’m either going with the nitto ridge grapplers or the Toyo OC ATIII. I couldn’t decide to go with 275, 285 or 295 70 R18 but like you I have other mods in mind so I may stay with the 275. My other concern is I tow a trailer 6700 lbs I want to make sure I get the correct E rating to handle the load. Still researching it. The wheels are doubtful due to finances (love the Fuel setup) so I’ll probably keep my stock wheels but I do like the look of your wheels without the chrome that mine have. Is that stock or where they painted? Again, thanks for sharing.

Just know that every tire, even if the same size, may be slightly different so a 275/70/R18 Nitto may be ever so slightly wider than the Toyo OCIII of the same size. Mine are E-rated. Also know that the Nittos are NOT a 3-Peak/Snowflake rated tire, fwiw. Toyo's are, same with the Falken's. My wheels are matte black from factory. Also be mindful of offset with Fuel wheels. Hope this helps.

It does, thank you. Since I live in Pa and snow is common where I live I have been leaning more and more towards the Toyo. Much appreciate the info!

Your blessing and curse of doing BIG research definitely paid off on this one. Those wheels and tires look fantastic. Sure makes we want to get some machined Double Standards in that same 18" size for my CM Tundra.

IMG_4856.jpg And now with the newly added Bushwhackers. Didn't take a profile but they're just right IMO. Next week the Xtrusion Aluminum Rack comes and will follow up with more photos. Chrome...ugh.

IYDMMA How much was the tire and wheel set up? And where did you purchase from?
I just bought a ‘20 SR5 CM last week and like the set up you have.

I got wheels direct from Method and tires from a local tire shop in SoCal. About $2500 for everything.

Thanks for posting - this helped me pick out my wheel / tire combo - much appreciated.

When it comes to this: "and then loosened the 4 screws on the front inner plastic wheel well and pulled it forward towards the bumper, then tightened the screws again" - can you clarify what 4 bolts and what specifically you pulled forward? Thanks!

    - they're the little bolts/screws that are securing the underside of the whole plastic wheel well. They run left to right parallel to the ground. I you loosen them, then pull the wheel well towards the front fenders, then tighten again, you'll get about another inch of clearance. As I said I have no rubbing issues.

Here's the truck with newly installed Xtrusion Overland Bed Rack. The best, most versatile rack out there! It's an adult erector set. One giant, extruded aluminum t-slot rack with CNC'd corners and brackets. Expansion is literally limitless.

Are you trying to convince yourself that you aren’t getting into modding your truck? :monocle:
    :spending:
Truck looks good with (or without said) mods ;)

ha, thanks. well, yes and no....what I meant specifically was that I didnt want to get into a pricey suspension swap and body mount chop just to accommodate the tires. If I do anything with suspension it would be just adding some better Fox or Toytec shocks but don't want to do UCA's as I'm not looking to build a monster truck. I use it for skiing, fly fishing, camping. I'm very happy where it is right now so not sure what else I would do. Maybe some external lights. And a front bumper. And rear bumper. And...

I’d forgo the rear bumper as your bumper is already color matched and it’ll be difficult to find a bumper that is compatible with the sensors that come on your limited (from what I’ve read on here regarding BSM/RCTA: https://www.tundras.com/threads/any...tible-with-bsm-rcta.76676/page-2#post-2445653). I went a similar route with the TRD Fox suspension upgrade and replaced my front bumper (had to drill out locations to remount the front parking sensors)…looks like your definitely building your truck to get you to the activities you enjoy—fly fishing should be starting to pick up this month too.
