EDIT II: Found one! Exact fit! Persistence paid off. Been looking for months. Funny how I found one the day I created an account on this forum! Must be something lucky about this place!!!

EDIT: I'm looking for something with similar measurements...because I'm too cheap to buy new. Worth $1000 in savings if I can make it work!

    Hey folks,

I just bought my 2016 tundra double cab 6.5ft bed and have been scouring the interwebs for a used camper shell but have come up short.

I've tried craigslist, offerup, KSL (utah craigslist basically), ebay, used cars lots...I've even resulted to leaving leaflets on other similar tundras windshields offering to buy a strangers camper. Efforts have fallen short, to say the least :(.

My question is, has anyone had any luck with getting a shell built for another truck make/model fit their tundra? I know they're model specific but I figured someone here has had some luck with jerry rigging a shell from another vehicle.

Any and all advice is much appreciated!

P.S. I looked for older threads but couldn't find anything so apologies in advance if the topic has already been covered.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

As long as the bed length and width are the same (that 6' bed size is pretty standard), any cap can be made to fit (I had a cap from a Ford Ranger on the back of my 1995 tacoma for years. Paint didn't match and the clamps had to be customized a bit, but worked great, until I totaled the truck in 09 lol). Don't limit your search criteria to only "tundra".

Welcome to the fun! Yea sometimes I watch that avatar over and over again  I know what you mean about finding a used cap, I ended up buying new just because I couldn’t wait, but obviously cost me more......... just like this forum.

That was exactly my thought when I joined, like 2 months ago. Never thought I’d find other people who loved tundras as much as I do. Post up some pics of your rig when you get the chance.

Welcome from Colorado. Keep looking on Craigslist. My patience paid off and got a fairly new ARE MX topper for $425:thumbsup:
