Joining up to do a little research. Currently have a 2017 tacoma trd offroad which has been great. Recently got a travel trailer that the Tacoma does pull just looking for something a little bigger for the longer trips. Looking at new platinums or limiteds and trying to decided between the two.

Welcome to the forum. I had a 2016 Tacoma and bought a 2019 Platinum Tundra to tow a TT. PM me if I can help with any questions or my experience with the Tundra.

Well shopping around a came across a dealer with a 2020 tundra limited dc 4x4 with lx package which is what I’m wanting but the price seems to good to be true. MSRP is 52500, website list it for 49k but contacted the dealer and said they could do 44k.

Welcome from UT! If you found the one you want, at a respectable price, I would say go for it.

My advice would be to find a gently used 2018. Since towing you’re gonna want that factory trans cooler. If I had to do over again, I would be in a 2018 instead of ‘19.

Welcome from Florida! I also upgraded from a Tacoma. I loved it but the Tundra is just in a different class - power, room etc...
Between the Platinum and Limited I would recommend the Platinum. But look at both and make a decision based on what you need.

I went with a new Platinum to tow my RX7 while it’s being rebuilt. The Platinum has the best interior (in my opinion) with the most features. I chose to buy new instead of used because there is no way to know if a used truck was loaded or towed over capacity.

from what I’ve read, the newer trucks don’t have transmission coolers, which isn’t ideal. If it really becomes an issue for me I’ll purchase a kit and install it.

Look for about $2,000 in dealer add-ons. Even with that added, that’s a very good deal.

Just test drove a 1794 which isn’t what we want but closest thing they had to a platinum which is what’ve decided on. Local dealer said they could be competitive so we will see if they locate what we want. Don’t really understand the fuss over a external cooler lots of oems use integrated* coolers with no issues.

I just traded in my heavily modded 17 Tacoma TRD Off Road with manual transmission. The dealer gave me $30,500 for it! I had 39,000 miles. Bought a 2020 (new) Tundra SR5 off road 2 days ago and I am LOVING ITA20200827_071547.jpg 20200827_072023.jpg
