    Hi All,

My apologies if this has been asked before! I'm new to the forum and looking for a local shop in Colorado (metro area) or someone who knows how to do a body mount chop on a second generation tundra (2010). I'm up north in Colorado around the Longmont area and I've heard a few shops that do it for about 300 bucks and that seems to be the average price but I find it kind of hard to swallow. I've never done it and it doesn't look to hard but i just don't have the tools for it and don't know how to weld. You experts have any suggestions or can point me to the right direction?

    Thanks,
    David

I did mine at Toy Crawlers. I believe they could have done a nicer job on it.

Welcome! I’m up around Longmont too. I asked David at Toytec and he had a shop he recommended but I don’t remember.

4” angle grinder and cut off wheels. Use template from plates and cut out can mount.

Take CM plates into a weld shop and have them burn them in. It will take 20 min.

Sorry all I'm new to this forum stuff and not quite sure how to reply to everyone and thanks all for the input. At the time of my lift I didn't know what i wanted but a 3/1 was the most common and little did I know 33s were max tire size that would fit without a bmc. I love the look of the 35s with a 3/1 lift, it fills up the wheel well nicely! Other issue I have is my rims are a 0 offset VE37 18x9 (knock off of the TE37 wheels or look a likes).

@ColoradoTJ - Do you know what a weld shop would charge on average if i was to cut it out on my own? It seems pretty straight forward with the templates and instructions.

Wouldnt hurt anything as long as your tires aren't hitting jagged edges. You will rust if you dont shoot it with paint though...

Are you certain of that? My rims are a 0 offset. Every thing I researched or heard from, a BMC is needed to run 35s but I guess its different for everyone.

Im certain your safe with a skinny 35 with 0mm offset, and 295/70/18 but a 35 x 12.5 0mm offset yes you will need a BMC. Good luck

The positive offset makes a huge difference. Negative is what kills clearance

No pics of them on the truck yet but I will after my alignment is done. I took some when the UCAs arrived though. I bought these from Rocks Auto, and luckily I found out through another post on here. The part numbers all the same as SPC and stamped SPC but in MEVOtech box. This saved me over 200 bucks! :bananadance:SPC1.jpg SPC2.jpg SPC3.jpg SPC4.jpg SPC5.jpg SPC6.jpg SPC7.jpg SPC8.jpg

I ended it up cutting it myself but I had someone weld it on for me for like 50 bucks. Its really not that hard, just use a angle grinder and reciprocating saw and take your time. It didn't turn out the prettiest but its good enough for me.

I hear ya! Well my trucks a 2010 so I didn't feel too bad if it turned out looking ugly. This is just me but once you grind down the weld beads (i probably get chewed up for saying that but oh well) and spray it with some black paint you be fine. Its crazy how you gain just a tad bit by doing the cut. Don't take me up on this but I think it really depends on the offset of your rims. I've heard guys get away with 35s on a 3/1 lift without a bmc, because of their offset. I think there is a sweet spot for the offsets that dont require a BMC. I'm sure guys on the forum who are more knowledgeable than me can speak to it. What's your lift and tire plans?

edit: Its all money and time at the end but if you get adjustable control arms you can probably get away with that and without a BMC. Just have a 4x4 shop who knows what there doing give you some positive caster to prevent rubbing on the body mount. I had toytec do mine and all is good now.
