    Hi guys,

New member here. Looking at buying a Tundra and was looking for a little help. I am coming from a Tacoma and need a little extra cab space. Growing family. I really don’t want a payment, so looking to buy something cash and this one is in my range. Only problem that I see are miles. I know timing belt, water pump, frame/undercarriage, etc all need to be in order. I am going to ask for all service records.

Would these miles be of concern, for that price, with any of you current owners? Assuming it has received all necessary maintenance?

    Here is a link:

    https://www.shultsolean.com/used/Toyota/2010-Toyota-Tundra-cef480d50a0e0ae87ad66e99f85d86c6.htm

Edit: this would be used as a daily driver. Not modded or off-roaded. Not hard anyway. Don’t even really need the V8, but the extra space in the cab is what I’m after. Do need a pickup truck. And the double cab Tacoma’s are still a little tight with a car seat

Welcome from CO. 174K wouldn't be a deal breaker but due diligence is a must. Perform a complete visual inspection from top to bottom for rust and leaks. The site you linked allows you to check for open recalls but take the VIN down to your local dealer to verify what recall issues may have been addressed and any service that may have been recorded.....and buy a Tundra trucker hat while you are there.

Thank you! I’ve been reading through this site on things to look for with this amount of miles. Hopefully it doesn’t look like a northern truck lol.

Price is actually a bit below what I saw on KBB. Any thoughts on price? Seem pretty reasonable if it all checks out?

Looks clean....don't fret about timing belt. That 2010 has a timing chain.

I use KBB as a rough reference guide. Most used Tundras I see sold here in Denver area at above KBB or at least high KBB for their condition. When you text drive the Tunny...Make sure 4 wheel functions properly too.

Actually don't "text" drive it....heh...heh....GD auto spell BS.

Haha I had to edit my original post about 5x because of autocorrect. I feel your pain. And thanks for the heads up on the timing chain. And 4x4....it’s a must where I live in the winters.

Welcome. They didn’t show any photos of the wheel well areas. It could be the photographer, or they’re avoiding anything near the frame.

That’s one of the first things I’m going to look at when I get there. Really curious how the undercarriage looks.

it either has rock warrior stickers, or the (desirable 17" forged) wheels were changed out

most likely the latter as the front bumper looks to be 1 piece plastic (vs painted/wrapped/powdercoated steel), but could be both as it has the base (non-SR5) cloth seats and I thought all RWs had the console buttons and SR5 cloth

minor nitpicks but everything about it tells me it's been modified or repaired in some way

That one piece Toyota OEM matching paint ABS plastic "Sport" front bumper cover was used on certain models but not sure about RW's. I'd bet that is original to that Tundra though. Too much of a coincidence and I don't believe in coincidence most of the time. I do know if I had a RW I wouldn't sell the rims. It will be quite easy to determine if this truck was /is a RW. With the VIN# the local Toyota dealer can verify build out.

Those miles are about 20k per year. Chances are they were highway miles at that rate, High highway miles never scare me. Bought a 2 year old Saab wagon with 100k & never had an issue with the motor. Different engines of course, but generally highway driving is just easier on the vehicle & tends to blow out all the leaves & crap the trees drop & dries out the under carriage of the vehicle such that the bodies 'tend' to be in better shape than something with low miles sitting under a tree in the yard. IMO. As a reference I've been looking at 2003 - 2005 Tundraii & they tend to list for $6k - $10k. Makes the one you're looking at seem a no-brainer. Got me rethinking my plans. Good luck!

    Welcome from TX!

The mileage isn't awful. To me it depends on the miles you will acquire as a DD if your wanting to keep for a while. 10-15K yearly seems reasonable. 20-25k and your pushing 300K in 4-5 years. Just my .02.
Also that plate on the tailgate is an indicator that the truck was worked, or is covering some damage from being worked. Maybe just installed to protect it.

    Good Luck.

Thanks for all the replies. Still torn on it. Just need to go see/drive it and get some info from the dealer. If I end up with it, I’ll definitely post some more pics.

That’s a good point, I didn’t really think of it like that. If it isn’t stock(which it doesn’t sound like it is) there’s most likely a reason that diamond plate is there.
