So, 45 minutes removing old and exhaust and installing new exhaust? Thats not bad. I'm looking forward to when I pull the trigger on it, which will be here in the near future.

In fairness I had recently installed the DD in Dec so I am familiar with the process and the bolts were not corroded

I'm curious. Everyone raves about the DD, why did you change?

I thought I might share my first hand experiences with DD 6", DD 8", magnaflow muffler, and SPD equal length exhaust. All were installed on a '20 and '21 5.7 tundra.

First up was a magnaflow muffler. A straight cut out and weld in muffler swap. Aweful, annoying sound, crazy drone, loss of low end tq.

Second was the 6" DD. Awesome sound, raspy, loud when you mash it, picked up the lost low end TQ. I added the resonator out of curiosity and really didn't notice a difference. The sound may have been a bit quieter. The most annoying thing was the exhaust tip kept rotating due to the weight of the resonator. Tried multiple clamps/bolts, nothing worked. Super annoying.

Sold the 2020. Fast forward to a few years later.

Back in a Tundra, wanted the sound and now have neighbors. I went with the DD 8". It's just as loud as the 6", but not the same sound. The 8" is more deep and bellows under throttle. It sounds more like a truck, not a racecar like the 6". Truthfully I enjoyed the 6" more. I have the drone at 1800rpm between 60-65mph. Not bad. Again, no resonator. This time Keith told me the flange was redesigned and true to his word, the tailpipe did not rotate.

I liked the DD 8", but didn't love it. I'm not paying several $$ to ship it back for the 6" so I decided to try something different. Tonight I installed the SPD equal length exhaust. Again, a super easy install. I like that it's 304 stainless and welds look much better than the DD. It's a touch quieter than the DD 8", but has a deeper tone with no bellow effect, which I prefer. No loss of low end TQ that I can detect. Startup is a little quieter as well.

All in all, DD makes a fine product, so does SPD. My personal preference is SPD. Had I went back to the DD 6", I'd have probably kept it.

Thanks for the details. I currently have the TRD dual exhaust and keep thinking about the DD exhaust or the newest player SPD. I don’t have my OEM exhaust anymore so I need something back to the tailpipe. I noticed a good amount of low end torque lost when moving to the TRD and looking to get that back along with some sound, but nothing obnoxious.

    any drone with the SPD?

Did you add them same time as catback? I’m trying to find out if they gain noticeable power as a standalone mod.

same time. The high flow cats and no secondary is definitely noticeable

I am considering the SPD exhaust for my supercharged 2018 Platinum. Any drone at all at highway speeds? I have a Borla now and its vey quiet overall. Thanks

Love the DD's. JBA's up front, and dual 3" to the back passenger side (yes, they are quite loud).
I'd love to see some pictures of them exiting out the side, not too sure how one would do that

I have the DD setup. JBA LT"s full 3 inch, no cats exiting above the axle passenger side. Not too loud until I romp on it.

Makes it equal length and smooths out the exhaust tone. Doesn't slow it down at all.
