Wife and I are looking for a new bed, the one we have is getting too soft and hurting our backs. Looking for a firm mattress. Any suggestion or brands you guys and gals like?

Been there, we bought an Ikea Mausund latex / wool mattress with hardwood slat base last year. It took a couple weeks to adjust to as it is firmer, but it’s been incredible ever since. Now I wake up with only one part of me being stiff, instead of the whole me. :D I like that it as no chemical fire retardant, and no nasty smells right out of the package. And it was a bargain compared to the Sealy pillowtop POS we had before.

8 months in and I’d do it again. In a heartbeat.

I have a firm California king. Forget the brand right now. I found the best combo for me was adding a memory foam topper from Costco to it. It’s the right amount of soft, to just absorb the curves of our bodies but firm enough that it doesn’t sack out.

I love the initial feeling of a super soft bed. But found that firm was much better for my back. Then found that firm wasn’t as nice in general for being comfortable. So my suggestion is find the firm bed that you like, if you feel like it’s just not exactly right, give a topper a try along with it.

I don't know what type of budget you have but the wife and I have a Tempur. Each of their different styles come in 3 different firmness options. Stay away from the cloud series as those are their softest. Quite pricey but I sleep like a rock on it . We got the Tempur Adapt hybrid series it worked best for us because of our size difference

Anyone have Chattam and Wells bed? We are looking at one but very pricey, but I feel worth it.

Have you ever checked on Nest Bedding Coupons? I saw there varieties of Firm mattresses and they are quite cheap as well. I found Ikea lil bit expensive but I will not say that not buy from there, obviously, it's up to you. One more important thing I wanna tell that It gives much relief from back pain.

I’ve been looking at the Casper ones, but haven’t tried them yet. Their pillows are my favorite though.

Mattress buying is a pain, since you really don’t know for a while how much you’ll like it.

I have some back issues and I think firm is the way to go for me as well.

About a year ago I picked my daughter up a Tempurpedic because I got a killer deal on it. I love it. I want one for our bed now, it will be my next mattress for sure, but they aren't cheap.

I tried to order the Casper one. I had paid and waited 2 months. At the time I was on an air mattress after I had gotten back from a deployment. I emailed asking wtf is taking so long and they said they were on back order. Another month went by and they said the same thing, so i got my money back went somewhere else.

What's cool about the mail order bed in boxes is their trial period. If I had to do it again, I'd try purple.

The way I look at it is this, think of how much time you are going to be spending in it and what you are looking to get out of it. If you feel a well rested nights sleep is worth the price, go for it. My wife spends all day on her feet. I tell her to buy shoes that are comfortable, no matter the price. Your putting a price on your comfort. To me, if it meant I slept thru the night, was well rested, and woke to have energy for the day, it'd be worth it.
