Sup. I am in the process of upgrading from a Taco to a 2019 Tundra CrewMax Sr5 upgrade with Off Road package. It has tube steps but no bed liner or deck rails. Getting a price at 43,280k for it. Does that sound reasonable?

Is this the Out-The-Door price? If so, it's not terribly bad for a 2019. My TRD sport crewmax was MSRP 47,500, got it for 41,500 OTD in Oct 2018. If you have patience, wait for the memorial day and Fourth of July sales or end of the year.

I would start pitting dealerships with each other and see who gives you the better deal.

Sounds about right. Paid around $42K for mine 3.5 years ago. If you don't want to the steps, tell 'em to take off and see if the price comes down.

Yeah im in the process of pitting. That's not the OTD price, still have the taxes and fees on top of that. Sounds like i should be able to get a few more k off.

I did ask about removing the tube runners, they won't take em off. I'll probably take them off myself, if i get it.

Just as a comparison, I paid about $1500 more than that out the door for my 2018 Limited Crewmax with the premium and TRD Off-Road packages, and that was only with a $750 rebate. I have no sales tax in my state. I bet they're charging you way too much for those tube steps, so if I were you I'd ask them to remove them and just go buy some better ones for cheaper if you want them. Good luck!

Edit: Sorry, just saw you said they won't remove the steps. That would really piss me off as they're basically just forcing you to pay full price for an accessory.

The dealerships can be ridiculous when it comes to the add-on's. I negotiated for my truck over the internet, when I got there the sales manager came in after the salesman and showed me a total OTD that increased by the value of the add-ons. I told him I negotiated the truck's price as-is, with the add-on's already factored in and threatened to walk out if he didn't adjust the total to what I negotiated. He seemed pissed but he lowered it since he knew I was right, otherwise he was trying to increase my OTD total by over 3,000 for sidesteps and the bed liner.

go for 15% off MSRP. That price is TOO high. Just for a point of reference I had a DFW dealer down to $41.5 on a Sport that stickered for $49k. That was just via email. Toyota keeps sending me these letters so I thought I would test the waters. When I started to explain the mods I had on my 2017 he said they like mods and adjust trade in price. Yeah right. When I quit talking to him he started to offer stuff like LED headlights. Like fulanoderock said watch out for the add ons. First finance guy when I bought mine tried to tack on $600 at the preliminary closing. When I asked what it was for he made up some story about free oil changes for 100k miles. I told him that I do my own. When I went to pick up the next day I got a new finance dude that tried to pull the same shit. I asked what for a he said "that is what we charge everybody". I said funny the dude yesterday said I get free oil changes for 100k. He said "oh no it is a marketing fee". I said not on my truck give me the keys back to my trade and I am out of here. He said "oh we can take it off". I said it is that or tear up the paperwork. I told the sales lady about it a week later because she was wanting a good review. I said no way this dealership is getting a good review but you will. She said even if I ding finance she loses $300. I never did a review for Toyota and never heard from them. When I bought my 2 Tacomas the dealership hounded me for reviews when I told them that I do not do them. They finally ended up giving me a tank of gas.

I’m in GA and the state takes a value of what they base the vehicle to be at and that is how your taxed. When I negotiated, I got the vin of the actual truck I was looking at inputted that info into the state of Ga website and saw the price they felt the value was. I also called my credit union and asked for the book value that they valued the vehicle at as well and compared the numbers with the dealership. All of the numbers were before taxes. And junk fees.

Just be careful on the junk fees. That are charged. Btw, the website for state of GA if you want to get an idea is

In Texas this is only done with used vehicles. They got tired of people writing up a bill of sale for 1/2 the selling price. On new vehicles the tax is on the purchase price. I would bet that Ga. is the same.

A bit high. I bought the same truck in November and my OTD price was $38,898.

Wow, that's sounds like a good price. Did you have a trade-in? Is it the off-road and sr5 upgrade package? Any accessories?

Not sure of your state but I paid $41,900
for my 17 Limited TRD Off Road in April 2017, which had premium package and chrome exhaust tip. If I recall, it stickered for close to $49,000. Location and MFG promotions and rebates matter.

Yes like others have stated I think you could do a little better depending on local competition. How many other dealers are in your area? Also you can play the "outdatedness" of the truck against them if you want to draw the big 3 into the negotiations picture (even if you're not serious about buying big 3) the Tundra is lacking in a lot of areas compared to newer vehicles in the same class. We all know we prefer the Tundra but the market is dictating that toyota dealers cut prices on Tundras for a reason... part of it is because it's getting a bit outdated.

Alternatively if you're fine spending 43k on the purchase, get them to throw more accessories in like say the TRD Dual Exhaust which is about $1k value. Tell them to spray in a bedliner ($300-400 value) also you want better wheels or tires? Perhaps remote start? Get it in writing. Tell them you'll pay their price but they need to add this stuff in to seal the deal. Ask for 3 or 4 things expect theyll offer you 1 or 2 of them...

Just as a data point, I bought a 19 SR5 CM Sport, no steps and no liner or rails, for $40.5k out the door this weekend, taxes included. I feel like that was a fair deal.

Did it come with any options or Convenience Package? I'm assuming this includes the current rebate?

I got nfab steps on Amazon for about $300. Liner is $400 to have someone spray one in. No idea what rails cost but I imagine it's in the $100-$300 range. easy and not super expensive stuff to add. Dont let the little add-ons make or break a deal. If Costco can get you to 43k you can probably do better on your own.

I paid $40,400 for 2019 SR5 Crewmax 4x4 Off Road with spray in bedliner, cargo bed lights, charging kit, and had Etunes with integrated nav. It had TTL on top of that price with no junk fees.
