    Howdy!

I recently just purchased a 2000 Tundra with 162k. I’m extremely excited as this has been a dream truck for some time. Definitely excited to make some additions to the truck. However, I did an inspection and the truck definitely has some things that need to be taken care of. I’ve already taken care of a few things myself (engine filter, lights, etc). Just curious if anybody had some advice on this laundry list of things that need to be done on the rig.

    thanks y’all! B59702AF-635D-4DB7-A8A0-A800987EDAD1.jpgB59702AF-635D-4DB7-A8A0-A800987EDAD1.jpg 3D10BAC4-4BD2-4578-AE16-676D93E67358.jpg581516CB-0D13-427A-81D4-F1428302EE97.jpg 1F9CE034-4D43-4EAB-8E04-F474D80FF0A7.jpg

This would be good to put in the regular 1st gen section for more traffic.

How handy are you with things? Some of these items seem over-exaggerated.
Exhaust manifold leak may just be the "ticking" sound you get when you first start when cold which doesn't necessarily mean you need to replace them. Rear diff service is a 20 minute job.
    P1128 isn't a code I'm familiar with so I can't direct much there.
I feel like it's possible that your rack is leaking but I doubt it's as bad as they say. If you're not adding fluid often I'd say leave that be and replace the outer tie rods.
You can do struts and axles aren't too difficult and your leaking axle may not really be that bad yet.
Curious about your radiator leak as well. That's a pretty easy swap to do yourself.

Some of those look reasonable, while some look rather exorbitant.

I had basically that exact truck, btw. Bugged my Father in Law for YEARS to sell it to me.

I had one of my exhaust manifolds replaced at an exhaust specialty shop, and while I don't remember the exact number it was hundreds, not thousands. I wanna say like 300-350. Does the Tick-Tick-Ticking go away when it warms up?

I'd definitely get some other opinions.

These trucks are relatively easy to work on. I am willing to bet that you would be able to complete a lot of these things yourself. Don't over-repair it, otherwise other issues may arise especially if you have rust.

Timing belt, water pump and lower ball joints. That is really all you have to think about on these first gen Tundras. Leave the oxygen sensors alone until you throw a code, and even then, if you are running well and have no state inspections, just leave it alone. Leave it alone if it is running well as far as a check engine light. My .02.

Congrats on a great truck purchase! I've done every one of those above service items to my truck over the years aside from the steering rack. I did them myself in my father in laws shop with common tools and some help from this forum and youtube university. A Chilton's manual is also an invaluable tool. I spent more like $2000, which will likely be a little higher now than when I did most of these services. Spacing them out by prioritizing them will help. You eat an elephant, one bite at a time.
