So, I'm getting ready to black powder coat my SDHQ winch mount bumper. I can't decide if I should keep the central winch cover plate silver or change it to black. I've never really thought it looked great, but it's kinda grown on me. What do you think? Keep it silver or make it black? And remember, your vote matters. This is an important decision that may change the course of human history.

I say black but either looks good. My truck is red and black themed.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Either way but one way 'shows' it off more than the other.

So the question becomes for you, do you want to show it off or just 'hide' it down there?

If showing off, why not matching to your truck color as a 3rd option? Personally I'd show it off.

If you would like to see what it would be like plastidip it in black to get the feel of if you like it then if you don’t you just peel it off and if you do then you can look at making it more permanent.

if you go offroad often, that black might get scraped off as you use that skid as a skid.
    Food for thought :drevil:

There's always got to be that one guy, and i guess it's me now. I would do it gunmetal gray. I think black would be too dark and would kind of look like a big black blob under your truck, where the dark gray would still have a little contrast with the control arms and suspension components. Bitchin truck BTW.

I have grey Steel-it on the visible front part. Raw aluminum is difficult to keep looking nice, and when I scratch the front it won’t be as noticeable compared to black.

Yeah, I though that as well. Might be too much red, though. Maybe I'll import the images to Microsoft Paint and see if I can alter the silver to black and red. Not sure if that's possible, but it's worth a shot.

If you are not 100% sure you can paint with plasti-dip. I was not 100% when I did mine so I used plasit-dip. Has held up great for a year and a half (now that we are on shelter-in-place I am going to have time to peel the plasti-dip and paint.)

my 2 cents. On my Hard Enduro bike, I have a choice of anodized hard parts for Rotor Gaurds etc etc. I always go with Silver due to the fact that I always chew things up, rocks go through coatings really quickly, if you don't plan on hitting anything, go with Black or whatever, but if you plan on using it, go with silver, it'll end up looking WAY better long term.
