I'm currently running 275/60 on 20 inch wheels. This is what came on my truck when I bought it. They are the Black Mammoth wheels by Ultra Motorsports. From what I can find online it seems like the offset is +35 with backspacing of 6.37" roughly. I have fender flares and these wheels are sitting too far in to have a stance that I like. They are 20x9 wheels.

So I started looking at wheels and I've kind of narrowed it down to getting a wheel with an offset of +20 which is around a 5.75" backspace or getting a 0/1 offset which is roughly 5" backspace. My concern is that with going with the 5 inch backspace, it would give me the stance I want, but I can't determine if it's going to rub or not.

I tried a set of 2" wheel spacers and the tires rubbed on the front little mudflap. So I'm thinking that I could go with a 0 offset and still not have any rub.

Does anyone out there have any advice, suggestions, or can confirm that running 275/60 on 20 inch wheels with a 0 offset or 20 offset works without rubbing?

Go with 20 mm rather than 0. You will have a lot less stress that way. I have 18 mm offset wheel (18x9) and 295/70/18 and my tires are just about even with Bushwhacker pocket style fender flares. My tires are few mm away from the body mounts though. With 0 mm, you will have to do some serious cutting.

You have no rubbing and didn't have to trim with those wheels? And I don't have any lift on the truck either.

You're going to get less rubbing with the +20 than with 0...for sure. Have you thought about just trying 1.25"-1.5" spacers so you don't have to buy new wheels? If you only rubbed on front flap with 2", smaller wheel spacers will probably work.

I thought about it. But I'm already stuck with a pair of 2" I can't get rid of. I didn't want two sets of spacers that don't work. Haha

My truck came with those wheels and tires as part of the XP package as well. Although the wheel manufacturer lists that wheel as a +35 offset, I can tell you they are actually +50 offset. Ultra made "special" wheels for Toyota. If you remove the wheels from your truck, you will see the +50 mark on the back of one of the spokes.

I don't have any experience with that tire size and 0 or +20 offsets, but a 0 offest will be too aggressive. I just wanted to let you know any measurements you take of clearance for your truck now, yours wheels are +50

Well that makes more sense. Considering they're so far inside of the truck. Thanks for that though!

yes, but it may rub. I'm running +18 20x9 mounted on 295/60 tires and 2.5" lift. I had to remove mud flaps and push the fender liner in towards the front bumper to make clearance.

Just so you know, based on the +50 offset, those 2" spacers you tried actually made your wheels essentially a 0 offset.

Yeah, I see that now. I was basing my math off the +35 offset. After doing the math with the numbers you gave me, the wheels are almost 7 inches of backspacing. So like you said, turns into a 0 offset with the 2" wheel spacers. If I go with the +20 offset, it winds up being 1.19 inches less than whats on there now. So, if my math is correct, it would essentially put me out to the spot with 1.25" wheel spacers if I went with the +20 offset. And considering the tires you're running are 8/10 of an inch wider than mine and almost a full inch taller than what I have. I'm guessing it would fit without rubbing. Make sense to you?

And how much did you have to push the liner in?

Tires rubbed on the plastic liner so I took the bottom screws out and pushed liners in and rescrewed them and no more rubbing. But I understand the procedure is little more cumbersome with 2014+ models.

I did run 275/65/18 (Stock Off -Road package tires) on these wheels for a while before getting larger tires. I had no rubbing with 275s.

Oh yeah. They will. You may have to remove the mud flaps and cut the skid plate a little.

Better than the alternative with a 0 offset

Man, I hadn't even thought about the skid plate. Been worrying about the control arms and the plastic liner. I'm starting to see why Toyota put those particular wheels on there. ):

They do have some wheels in a +30 offset that I believe would probably fit, but I don't think they will give me the stance I'm looking for.

Based on that, those tires are just under an inch shorter than what I've got on there now. 32.1" diameter.

Looks like I'm going to have a long night in the shop cutting spacers out of wood and taping them to my wheels. Trying to figure out the differences and what I can get to fit.

somewhere around +35 gets you almost flush with the fender. But, because you have the fender flares, you'll still be sunken in still and not happy if you're trying to get the wheels out. My buddy has the OEM flares that came with the XSP-X package, +50 Ultra wheels, and he added 1.5" spacers to his. It got the wheels out to around +12 or so and it looks great. He has 285/55/20 tires. He did have some rubbing on the mud flap, but that's it. He doesn't have a skid plate, so I can't speak to that; however, bending the skid plate is very easy to do and a very common solution

Thanks for all your help man. I'm just wondering at this point is it worth it to try a set of 1.25" spacers. Just don't want to be 500 in the hole and still not have the truck looking like I want it. Haha Especially when i could have spent 500 more and gotten new wheels to make it work.

Do you need your flares? I would remove them, looks way better without them. Flares are a fix for wheels that protrude too far. Not for you to have to try to fill with spacers to get to the flares. Plus they're eventually going to scratch up your fenders. I would remove flares, get 1.25 spacers and be done with it. Hopefully you can sell your 2" spacers and the flares and come out on top. And the skid plate is really really easy, don't worry about that.

Well I kind of like the look of the flares on the truck. haha That's why I was trying to keep them. I see why they have them on there though because the sling pattern is fully on the flares. If not for them, my truck would get wrapped with stuff from driving it.

Thanks for that. That is a good looking truck. Now to determine whether or not a 1.25" wheel spacer and almost a half inch more narrow tire would clear without the rubbing. Haha

The skid plate problem really isn't as bad as it sounds

You won't have to worry about the control arms at all. Now if you were running stockies (50 offset) with a wide tire, that would be a problem.

Plastic liner would be more of a problem with 0 offset. But even IF you do have a problem with 20's, it's nothing a heat gun and some massaging won't cure.

Bottom line, anytime you put on aftermarket stuff, you WILL end up with a few extra things you'll have to do - with the exception of a few low level mods - it'll all work out. Stop psyching yourself out and get them! We'll be here if you run into anything you can't handle!

Honestly, it really isn't taking a chance. 18 and 20 are really close in terms of fitment (only 2mm of difference). Worst thing you might have to do is remove mud flaps and bend the skid plate some. Everything else will be gravy!

Besides that, the stance will look BADASS!!

Just another option. I was looking at the XD Hoss wheel, but it's a 30 offset. How you think the stance would compare with that?

Here's mine. 18x9 with +25 offset. I think it would be about flush with flares.
