okay I want to get the hyper tech interceptor for my 2011 tundra 4.6L v8 sr5. I have a 6 inch lift with some big ole 35’s that slowed my truck down so much that I could barely hit 80. I ended up emptying my wallet and regearing to 4.88 gears which helped a lot but I drive like an a**hole and I want my truck a little more fun to drive. Looking thru the performance mods I’ve decided to go with a tune because I heard cai were useless on tundras and long tube headers are kinda pricey (college kid funds). In terms of tuner/programmers it has boiled down to a custom tune or a hypertech interceptor. Leaning towards the hypertech because that’s what dirtydeeds recommends and he’s a smart man. However I’m reading a lot of mixed reviews in terms of the interceptor and that it just throws codes. I was hoping I could get some good experiences/reviews before I pull the trigger. Thanks in advance. And yes i know I need a 5.7

Ran one. Noticed no change except for the codes I got weekly.

I did like the pedal commander thing. I still run that. Grabbed a trd blower and never looked back.

I would definitely go with a tune.
I ran the hypertech interceptor and was unimpressed. I also had codes pop up a couple times. I removed it and haven’t had any random codes since.

I recommend the Hypertech without the pedal module.

If your truck is pre 14’ codes aren’t as likely. 13’ and older they’re actually unlikely. But possible. Po101 is the kne I’ve seen. It doesn’t hurt anything, it’s just annoying.

Pretty sure Mat can’t tune a 4.6, but if he can that would be a great option as well.

All that said, Hypertech has a guarantee. Pretty sure it’s 30 days. Nothin to lose. If not happy send it back. But each and every truck I’ve installed on onto, there was a noticeable difference.

    Call for details. 760-877-4234

Thanks for everyone’s input. I think I am going to test out the hypertech interceptor and if I don’t like it I’ll send it back since it’s just a plug and play. If that doesn’t work out then I’m going to look into custom tunes. I guess the best way to get a real answer is to try it for myself. Had the same run in with the rough country lift kits having a two sided experiences. Thanks again peeps
