Need Help Disabling Automatic Door Locks...

I've seen this posted somewhere before, but the answers I read did not work for me so I'm asking again.

Anyone out there in Tundra land know how to disable the automatic door locking on a 2005 Tundra, (no remote key fob), V-8, access cab, automatic, 4x4??? The doors lock as soon as you put the truck into gear. It's my work truck so I'm in and out all the time and it's a pain in the butt to keep unlocking the doors.

I'm sure there is a Toyota tech on this site that knows a sequence that will disable this, but the ones I've seen posted so far just do not work for my truck.

Come on, some of you 1st Gen. wizards out there must have ideas on how to disable this.

 

No remote key fob? So you lock your truck with the key anyways? Disconnect the drivers door power lock motor.

 

The doors lock/unlock when you change gears from park to drive and vice versa.

My 2015 does it too and the other write ups on here have not worked. Either I have to go to dealer to have them re-program or someone with the software that's local...

 

I don't think thats a factory item on the 1st gen. I know aftermarket alarms have that feature. Did you buy the truck used and not get a remote? It might have an aftermarket alarm you're not utilizeing but is still programmed to lock the doors after it goes in gear.

If you find you do have an alarm, see which one it is so you can find out how to shut that feature off, or program it to unlock in park as well.

Good news if that worked you should be able to add a keyless remote if you want.

Search for rs3200 manual and you can download the whole programming manual.

Hey guys I've searched the forum and can only find this thread. Does anyone have any info on how to disable this for 3rd gens with keyfab ? I hate that the doors unlock when shifting into park.

 

Probably a trip by your local stealership to ask them to disable that with their fancy computer thingymajigs.

Crap I never knew there was a setting on the radio. Let me check. Hopefully it's not something for the JBL radios only. Appreciate the find

 

Dealer can do it in tech stream under customise settings. Some of the radios can if you go to menu and select vehicle

 

It worked. Your a life saver. I never thought about going thru the radio since I have the basic model. Didn't think I had features thru the radio. Thanks a million @Lil Steve you made my weekend.

 

And suddenly some piddif appeared! (look at filename to pick the correct version, rs3000 for earlier 1st gen, rs3200 for later 1st gen)

 

I didn't have any luck with the correct process for disabling the door lock/unlock beeps. Probably just needed to try it a few more times. But instead I disconnected the speaker/piezo. I was a little surprised, with all the videos and photo tutorials online even for stuff like disabling daytime running lights, that I couldn't find a darn photo of this thing anywhere. Just descriptions. So here it is, for a 2002 AC Limited, anyway.

Can anyone tell me whether I'm doing myself a disservice by only disconnecting the speaker, rather than fully disabling the beeps (valet mode)? Like might I set some alarm mode that disables the truck, and don't know it because I can't hear the alarm going off? Maybe I'd think the truck wasn't starting for another reason, but really it's that the alarm was triggered but I don't know it cause the speaker is unplugged? Forgive my ignorance, it's my first vehicle with a key fob. I know some people disagree, but to me the idea of a beep every time you lock or unlock doors is ridiculous and annoying.

Location circled. Wiring harness already disconnected. Brake fluid reservoir and master cylinder in photo for reference.





What to look for. It's the foam covered thing you'll see dangling in the photo above, just on the bottom edge of the circled area.

I rarely have success with entering programming mode without a few tries. Timing is everything. Try to keep a good cadence with your steps.

I thought this feature auto enabled when you come down Hwy 50 and start getting close to Sac, and then fully activates anywhere near Oakland.

 

Oh nice. I guess my issue was that when I searched 'disable daytime running lights', I got videos, photos, the whole deal. When I search 'disable piezo buzzer alarm' etc. etc., nothing. Verbal descriptions, never a photo or video. Now I know they're out there, just buried in threads about other things.

Re: brake fluid - you think so? I guess I must have really let my maintenance slip on my Tacoma and haven't flushed its brake fluid in way too long, because the Tundra's looks really clean in comparison... One more thing to add to the list before getting the Tacoma up for sale I guess.

 

Ok, nice, I'm getting some stuff to work now. First just tried the auto-door-lock disable and that worked, so my confidence built and I went full Valet Mode.

Thanks, just reprogrammed my alarm. I've gotten used to newer vehicles with the auto locks, I'll see how long I can leave these on before they get annoying.

 

I turned it on for mine. I haven't turned it off. Came in handy with the kids.

@MT-Tundra...resurrecting this from last Sept to see how it worked out for you, if you disconnected the damnthing?

Also, Im curious about this thread in general since my '06 SR5 AC has this exquisite lttle inconvenience [hateful 'Piezo chirper'...[did I say I hate it?...Im unlocking the door, I know Im unlocking the door, so whats the purpose of chirping?]].
AND since it didnt look like you got any direct answer to your query [#21] of 'unintended consequences' of your Piezo disconnect, it looks like you did disconnect, or....??

Anyway, my questions are:
1. If I disconnect it, will I cause any system disablements [other than chirp override] or electrical faults or codes?
2. I dont believe my build has the Toyota TVIP System; its not listed on 'T-Owners VIN spec profile' and I dont have the
dash panel for it or the Toyota window decal. [my FOB FCC: BAB237131-056].

BTW: Unless I misunderstand, is it only the TVIP System [vs plain FOB Lock-Unlock systems] that allows FOB customizations, such as 'Piezo chirp over-ride' ?

Yes, it worked. Haven't thought about it since. I both went through the weird ignition thing to turn off the noise, disconnected the speaker, and finally did away with the key fob altogether. I still have the fob, but the one thing I noticed with having no beep...unless I was listening for it, and the area around me was quiet, I couldn't hear the doors lock/unlock.

This isn't a problem if you check the doors, to make sure they're locked. But a few times, I'd push the fob button to lock it, subtly hear it lock then put the fob in pocket and walk away. I'd come back later, push the button and hear the doors do something...but they'd be locked! Like I said, this happened a few times. What I think was going on is that the button is fairly sensitive, and I guess as I was putting it my pocket I must have pressed the button again? Unlocked my doors without realizing it. Then when I came back later and used the fob I'd lock them instead of unlocking them.

I live in an area with very low crime but this still bothered me. I took the fob off my key ring and just use the key now. But my truck does not beep and that was my goal.
