I've had my 07 Tundra since 08 been a great truck but this year it has started running out of gas when my gauge says I still have gas. At first it was just slightly before empty when the light came on now it's a quarter of a tank on the gauge but I'm out of gas dead in the water can't move anybody have any experience with this bad fuel pump gas gauge how do I test for this without spending a ton of money at a shop?

Try a mileage test. If it keeps running out at a certain mileage then you have a bad gauge.

Until today, I've always gotten btw 290 and 305 miles per tank. But this only got me 268

yep bank account is running low from it..
Sounds like you have a bad float sensor going bad. If it was me replace the sensor and pump at the same time since you are already in the tank. Maybe read note below too that can also be the problem also.

If you are living in a state that does WINTER BLEND to the fuel that will be other reason you are getting less mpg to do the difference in mixture to fuel ratio to ethonal %.

Hmm, haven't had experience with this but (just speculating) could be your fuel pump going out. The pump might be relying too much on gravity to assist it.

Thank you both the float sensor makes good sense I only hope the parts n labor don't put me in the poor house. Lol. The timing belt last year ran me $200. 00 and this seems more invasive.
