awful... over Bluetooth or Carplay, it doesn't seem to get loud. I can go to max volume and both the device and the truck and its not even that loud. I cannot seem to get the system equalized and have messed with treb/mid/bass on just about every combo. Im by no means an audiophile, but im coming from a 2015 landcruiser with the premier JBL, and before a 2009 LX570 with Mark Levinson and they both absolutely blow the tundra out of the water.. is there something im missing? or is the only option to just replace all the speakers and amp.... frustrating.....

I'm installing the OEMAudio+ setup to free up the AMP for the rest of the system and having a better sub and tweeter setup. I'm equally disappointed in the Tundra JBL system compared to even the Tacoma JBL system, which had a lot more punch.

my 2019 JBL leaves a lot to be desired as well. Then to top it off, the xm cuts in and out constantly, even on the clearest of clear days!!

I like my etune with JBL. I don't know why everyone says it sucks. I have more than enough bass and the highs sound nice. I like the clarity too when you have the right music playing. I don't have xm radio so I cant talk about that. I usually, just plug my iphone in to the usb port and listen to apple music and it sounds great.
I am kind of an audiophile but I know this radio blows my chevy colorado's stereo out of the water. I am content.

I know my '16 did not have enough volume. So far with the SR5 radio in my '20 using android auto usb it's a lot louder. I'l try tyhr bluetooth later and compare.

my 2018 has no issues with volume . I never tried listening with all the windows down though. But that would be expected.

I have a 2020 platinum and am also disappointed in the sound, is there a general consensus on the best bang for the buck to make it a little better?

having dabbled in audiophilia I have found that the recording makes the biggest difference in sound quality. That is why I plug my iphone into my tundra. Of course, some songs sound like crap and others are jaw dropping. That is what you find when you start getting critical on sound quality. Otherwise, I like how my jbl system sounds for the most part.

I'm always amazed and how crappy some FM and Satellite radio sounds. I don't know if people just don't know the difference between quality and loudness or just don't care. Many sound too compressed and like streaming mp3s from early days.

I never got into mp3 and all my downloads were .flac and of decent quality. My home music is played 95% vinyl on a 2.1 speaker system, so I'm still waiting for them to bring this back!

If it was good enough for Ali, it's good enough for me.

There are ways to improve sound quality and volume issues on a budget. Best advice I can give for those on a budget - look for 2 ohm 6x9's for the front door speakers, replace the dash speakers with 2 ohm and get a good pair of 6.5" components for the rear doors. Add a pancake self powered sub under the seat and get the ********* amplifier to supplement your doors. I did these upgrades and spent about $500 total and installed myself. It is a HUGE improvement and much less than the package options through OEM and others

2020's still use the gimped RMS factory head unit? If so, almost any HU upgrade will double to max 50W RMS and you'll be like wow, that got nice and loud. Then for a cleaner depth sound, do what Shawn said above eg; I got in on Tech12Volts $320 speaker group buy back in January, added a sub, left the amp alone and love it. While I was at it, I soundproofed the doors and rear wall.

Our kids enjoy the sub's massaging action lol

    How did your sound system
Work after adding the plus setup? You had the non JBL system correct?

went a completely different route when I won a tech12volt full system. I have all new JL speakers, amp, and 2 12s. It absolutely rocks. I went nuts with sound shielding and it paid off huge!
