So I have been a bit confused by my MTE readings. I get down to 1 mile to empty, yet only put 21 gallons in. If it is a 26 gal. tank, shouldn't it take nearly 26 gallons to fill it up when at 1 MTE?? Guess I want to know (without running truck to empty) can I go another 40-50 miles once MTE hits 0????

It's done on purpose by Yota so you don't run the tank dry; it messes up the engine bad if you do. So they cheat you a few miles so you don't run it down to zero. I have 38 gal tank and never get more that 30 gallons on a fill.

100% true my friend.. I've done the testing to prove it.. the most I've filled up was 36 gallons.. but not I fill it up at 1/4 tank.. I just wanted to test it and if ever needed it could still run another 75 miles.. it's a true 38 gallon or 26 gallon tank..

I don't think it necessarily messes up the engine but more the fuel pump not being cooled by the extra fuel in the bottom of the tank. Maybe the fuel filter could get clogged easier to.
