As the title states, I will be moving to the Aurora area in the next couple months. I'll be working on Buckley AFB.

Anyone have any recommendations on what areas to look for housing? What areas to avoid? How is traffic on a normal basis?

Housing can be 30-40 minutes out from the base.

    Thanks in advance!

    Jason

I'm in Parker. Just 15 mins south of the AFB. I think you will be fine as I'm sure you will drive east in the AM which is opposite of traffic is headed. Don't know much about Aurora but I could find out.

Traffic here is a joke compared to other parts of the county. Don't think civil engineers knew (or thought) 50 years ago that there'd be an influx of people like there apparently has been in the past 10-20.

I'm from Tampa and it's way worse there than it is here. Shit at least here there's a view

Housing is cheaper in parts of Aurora but you get what you pay for. There a few nicer areas of Aurora near the Southlands Mall. Southlands is out east and further from the mountains but near a few nice golf courses. The traffic in Aurora is not to bad compared to downtown Denver and I-25. Centennial is nice and just outside of Aurora. Parker is not to far from Buckley AFB. It's definitely a sellers market out here right now. Congrats on moving to CO!

East and South East Aurora not bad at all. Some areas along Colfax near the the new VA Hospital are real nice and not far from the base. Keep in mind Colfax is the longest avenue in the US. East Colfax past I-225 is good to go. All new housing and shops/restaurants. As mentioned Parker and Centennial are nice. Rental prices and sales have gone through the roof. Bennett and Stratsburg not too bad either. Welcome from Aurora.
