I know I've seen posts where some of you have mounted a shovel to your OEM deck rails but I'll be darned if I can find any posts now. How have you done it?

Joon, what hardware did you use to drop down the height of the shovel?

I chopped up some metal stock I had laying around, drilled them and bought some SS bolts and nuts. I also have unistrut so I used these cone nuts, not sure about OEM rails though.

Ron, if you use the quick fists, I think you’re better off using the “mini” quick fists. My shovel is a little loose on the tightest setting of the regular quick fists.

Thank you, Sir! I'll check out my drop down options and see how thick my shovel's handle is. Gracias!

I tried the mini fists and didn’t work. The front part of the shovel was fine, but the fatter part didn’t fit with the minis. The original size works better for IMO. Either that or I’m not as strong as @joonbug :muscleflexing: to pull those straps over the handle.

I use regular quick fists for my shovel, and mini quick fists for my axe. The mini fists for the axe mount on the back side of the regular fists in first pic.

@RainMan_PNW you were asking about these the other day. I was curious too and the guy we asked hasn't responded. I found this thread and you might appreciate the info here as well.

Any other good ways to bolt to the stock rail? We’ve seen T-slot nuts and cone nuts in unistrut.

4 bolts drilled through the bed. Also needed a couple shims under the holder due to the uneven floor.

Shovel?? Man that is why I sold my ford products! Believe me, after you sell the old Fords and purchase a fifty thousand dollar truck, you suddenly stop getting so far off the path! Kinda funny how that works!
