    Hey folks,

Wanted to share the love. Midland USA reached out to us and provided a discount code. Figured I’d share on here and pass on the discount. Code is good for 15% off.

    Discount code: 4lobound15

We used it for some GMRS radios and small handhelds for the kiddos to get them involved. Here’s some pics of one of our setups. We used an MXT115 hard wired to the battery and a 3db gain Ghost antenna on an extended ditch light bracket mount.

I have the Midland 115 coming in, any idea which fuse that I should tap into? Sorry, not very familiar with electrical stuff. This is what Midland sent me when I asked, but not entirely sure what to do still. I would like to hardwire the radio to the interior fuse box.

You set on tapping into fuses? We normally just shield the wires with loom and then route them outside directly to the battery. That allows you to use the radio, even if the truck is off. There is even a little nipple on the harness grommet that is perfect for running a couple wires.

Nope, open to any suggestions. I was gonna open that nipple for the antenna, my worry is that it would take up too much room though, thoughts? I also plan on having a We Boost Antenna in the future so I'm worried that it would take up all of the space that hole would provide. Tapping into the fuses just seemed to be the easiest option.

The grommet on the passenger side has 2 nipples. Run the antenna to the passenger side and there’s a good spot behind the dash to put the excess cable, if you have any. I’d run the weboost through there too.

We run the extension from caliraised. Something like this.

Thanks for the advice! By any chance would you have pictures of the grommet on the passenger side? Is it bigger than the driver grommet? Seems like the cable for the antenna is gonna be thick.

And just ordered that CB extension! I already have their ditch light brackets so this will work perfectly!

I’ll have to get one tomorrow, but it should fit. I’ve had success cutting the end of the nipple off and then slitting it down the center so that it stretches a bit. Hopefully that makes sense.

any issues with slicing it down more? as in exposing the cabin to the outside since the nipple will have a larger gash in it?

I’ve done this to 2 personal Tundras and a tacoma. Never had an issue. Unless you’re fording water to that level, minimal quantities of water, if any will hit there to saturate and leak in.

Here you go. There is a nipple on the top and the bottom. Chop off the nipple end and split it.

So I noticed that channels 8-14 (FRS) aren't included, so how do we talk to FRS channels? I'm pretty new to this, as in I just installed it a couple hours ago so trying to figure everything out before I go off roading in a couple weeks.

Yea sorry to break it to you but you can't on that radio :(

You're limited to the shared freq's as the 8-14 are FRS only

Hey guys, sorry for the delayed reply, but I forgot about this. Yes, what he said. Depending on your radio, some are GMRS only and some are both.
