Anyone ever have mice get into their cabin air filter? I turned my heat on after work and heard this awful grinding sound. Got home and took the cabin air filter out, and sure as shit, something (I'm assuming mouse) chewed right through it, and all the pieces got into the fan. No other evidence of a mouse (no dead body). I cleaned it all out and put a new filter in, but just wondering if anyone has any tips on mice-proofing their trucks...

Many others who have had this issue have been told to close the cabin fresh air inlet. Before turning off your Climate Control, hit the Recirculate button which closes the flap the others are suggesting is allowing rodent access.

I’ll give you the same advice lots of people gave me when I was inquiring about how to parent a troubled 16 year old; you just have to sit them down and tell those mice that they can’t act like that, and they need to do as YOU say because it’s YOUR truck........

Yes mice can pretty much get in anywhere. For RV owners, it's especially bad because where we park is usually near great breeding grounds for varmints. We've had mice and even a skunk or two in our RV lot. Yes, dryer sheets are supposed to help defer as well as putting some steel wool in any opening you can find underneath the camper. I've only had mice messing with the white cloth covers on my tires and never inside, yet. (Our camper does have the bottom completely covered, though, as it's heated for colder weather.) I just make sure to visit the camper every few weeks to check on her. (She's parked at the RV storage lot at the AF Academy)

Adopt a dozen cats from the SPCA. Don't feed the cats. If you already have a cat, sit your cat down and tell him/her they're not performing to standard.

I changed the cabin filter in my mom's Tacoma last week after she mentioned a lack of air flow & some noise... squirrels had built a nest on top of the filter. I'm not sure where that cloth came from, but it was in there.

I pulled the blower motor, and removed a few peanuts still in their shells.
Re-installed the motor, and everything works fine now.

I watched a number of videos on replacing the cabin air filter in my 2007 Toyota Tundra Limited. Unfortunately to
remove the fan is completely different from those videos show. It is vertical mounted and not horizontal... Mice
are a real pain. Too bad mfgrs don't make filters that will smell good but drive mice for the hills.

Yes, I had a mouse get in my air vents and when I turned the fan motor on it shredded him into a million little pieces. I also had a brand new Polaris that the mice decided to chew a hole in the engine air breather and deposit corn into my crankcase. The ATV only had 99 miles on it when the engine locked up.

That stinks, I have a 2013 xp900, and like you deal with mice. It isn't something you can always park in you garage.

Everyone faces once in their life the problem of mice in their homes or somewhere else like you have the problem with the mice in your cabin filter. You should use some sprays that are available at stores to get them out of the cabin air filter. You should look out that from where they got the way to enter into the cabin filter. You can also contact some professional Pest Control Branford CT exterminator. Maybe they can help you find some hint that from where the rats got the way to infest your cabin filter.
