Mechanic Said my 2014 TSS 4.7 L has a bad water pump. No other signs of having a problem.

    N/A…. Yet.
I recently had to have a breaks done before the holidays because I was taking the family on a trip. When I pulled up too the shop; the breaks were changed (even though they’re still squeaking like a MF) and they quoted me$1100 (ball park) for a water pump replacement. The truck has no other obvious signs the water pump failing. Any other way an amateur mr. Fix-it could evaluate?

    check for leaks.

take belt off and see if water pump feels rough in turning.

How many miles? It’s covered under warranty until 60k, but you’re probably over in time. Mine went out in my 2010 5.7 at about 55k and I’ve read a few posts saying the same thing.

What was their explanation as to why they say it needs replaced?
It’s not a terrible job to do
