MAXXIS 35x12.50 -17 LT CREEPY CRAWLER on 2007 TUNDRA SR5??

    What are the steps i may need to take to get the MAXXIS CREEPY CRAWLER 35s under my TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5???

    i will be taking the truck in to shop for mechanics to work on in the future.
    what are some steps needed to do so before getting and ordering the tires.
    and what offiset of rims will i need?
    and what height of lift or leveling kit will i need to purchase to accomidate the tires to have zero rub and zero touching within wells during turning and offroading.

    Some Mods :) See build thread for details
    1. 3" front and 1" rear lift kit.
    2. Trim the front plastic in the wheel well.
    3. Remove the front mud flaps.
    4. Trim the front skid plate.
    5. Install a cab mount chop (CMC) plate. This requires cutting the existing cab mount and welding on a filler plate.
    6. 1.25" wheel spacers on the stock wheels or new wheels with an offset around +18mm.
    7. Front diff drop if 4x4.
    8. UCA's recommended but not absolutely needed unless proper alignment cant be achieved.

    thank you so much for the great direction as i am new to the game of 4x4ing and would love to have a great set of tires and good looking form to the truck.
    the correct steps will be taken to make sure the maximum potential is reached for the truck.
    safety of the truck and correct steps needed are what i need to hear thank you again.
    i will be printing this direction out to consult with an offroading shop

    i will definitely be referring back to this check list
    direction of safely upgrading my truck is key.
    i wouldn't want anyone to ripp me off or recommend something other than what another experienced Toyota owner knows.

    already loving the Toyota forum and appreciate all the help i can get

    as the 2007 SR5 is my first paid in full truck and is my pride and joy.

    things dont come cheap and the hard work was well worth it.

    and to continue the idea of not being cheap i will buy the best parts possible :)

    Any form of "chopping" to fit 35s is the poor man's way to do it IMO.

    Just get a 4-6inch lift so you have the proper amount of height to clear 35s and you don't have to chop a perfectly good truck. If you're doing a mid to long travel kit, I'd understand chopping but it's ill advised just to fit large tires.

    thank you for some direction as im becoming more incline with knowledge and im able to understand many points of view
    the support is greatly appreciated

    i will also look into the 4-6inch lift options also

    getting a good perspective of the options is key to me.

    i wouldn't want to regret doing anything down the road into the future.

    I would completely disagree. A drop bracket lift will not increase performance, raises center of gravity, adds leverage to the frame, and may still require trimming to fit 35's depending on a few factors. A quality 3" lift and some fender clearancing will keep the CG lower, add ground clearance(even over the drop bracket lift), and not require cutting frame cross members out etc.

    OP-
    18x9 with +18mm offset is my wheel size recommendation.
    I would say you likely do NOT want to run Creepy Crawlers, they're a hardcore offroad BIAS ply tire and will ride, handle, and wear poorly compared to other 'less hardcore' MT Radial tires.
    Tires like the Cooper STT Pro, Maxxis Razr, Toyo MT, Goodyear MTR, Nitto Trail Grappler etc will be a much better choice for a non-dedicated offroad only rig.

    Agree to disagree. I've had multiple lifted trucks in the past and cleared 35x12. 5 with 6 inch lift in all conditions without ever needing to chop or trim anything. I had a Dodge with 7 inch that cleared 35x14.5 with no Chopping either. Chopping a truck to fit tires makes no sense if your truck is lifted and alligned properly. (LT and MT excluded but majority of trucks on this site are pavement queens with an occasional trail.)
