    Good afternoon,

I just purchased a 2019 Limited TRD Pro. Prior to this I had a 2017 Limited TRD Pro with 20" BF Goodrich All Terrain K02 tires (after market). The dealership swapped the BF Goodrich's from the 2017 with the 2019 factory OEM tires.

I maintain the rear tires at a higher psi than the front, 80 psi and 60 psi, respectfully. In the 2017, the sensors read the correct psi. In the 2019, the sensors are maxing each tire at 50 psi. I asked the dealership why and the service manager could not answer if this was a glitch or a design change.

Does anyone run aftermarket high performance tires on your 2019 Tundra with a psi greater than 50? Do your sensors calibrate to the actual psi?

The dealer had under inflated the tires when they made the swap - only 34 psi. I practically died at how flat they looked and felt. The service department argued that was the correct inflation. So I took the vehicle to Discount Tire and they said they have had difficulties with the sensors on the newer vehicles using their computer

In the user manual there is a procedure to reset the tire pressure. Press a button, drive for 10-30 minutes. Is this something anyone has had luck with?

Or am I just out of luck with the 2019 and high performance 10 ply tire?

    thanks!
    Natalie

Bump. I’m looking for the same answer. Anything over 50 psi my sensors go into malfunction mode on my 2019 sr5

    Natalie,
I run 275/65/20 LTE BFG KO2 tires on my crewmax. They have a max pressure of 80 PSI. On a half ton truck like the tundra these tires generally only need 50-55 psi all around to handle the weight of the Tundra. In my opinion yours are severely over inflated at 60 and 80. That’s practically OEM inflation for a 1 ton truck.
My advice would be drop them to 55 all around.

The TPMS button found on the lower dash near your right knee is used to reset the baseline tire pressure. I have used it not only on my truck but on my customers tundras. When you swap to a new tire that requires different pressure than what the door says, the TPMS button should be used to reset your computer to learn the new tires cold pressure.

Pick your new cold tire pressure. Turn the truck on and hold the TPMS button until it flashes a few times. Drive the vehicle for about 20-30 minutes.

I have the same thing on my 19 TSS I got a month ago. The front came at 29 and back at 31, they look so flat to em. I added air in the fronts up to 32 and left the tears alone. They still look flat but the dealer say around 31-33 is correct. I call Bs but don’t want to add anymore air.

@Scuba I just recently started running the Nitto terra grappler G2 in a 295/70/18. It’s an LT tire and 80 psi is max, I’m running them at 38psi currently. I was surprised by how loose or floaty they are, would upping the pressure to 44 or 46 make a difference in the way the sidewall flexes when cornering? Thanks bud.

maybe the dealer needs to reprogram them via techstream? or maybe try a tpms reset via the button lower right under the steering column? Doesn’t make much sense unless the newer model sensors have a max.

Normally 40 is minimum for an LT on a half ton. But yes, I’d try a bit higher pressure for sure if they feel soft.

40/41 on freeway, a lot less when going off roading or else the ride is painful.

Old thread - but google brought me here. Everyone has personal preference on pressure. Regarding OP question: yes, I run over 50 and just got told by dealer same thing - the readout will max at 50. Pretty frustrating Toyota can't make it work like it should; plenty of people run light truck tires on light trucks.
