I got a news update from Magnuson today but do not see anything shown on their website. Wonder if this will be flowed into the tundra supercharger eventually?

I don’t know how to hide this purchase either. Since the car would be in the shop for at least at couple days, can’t say my brand new truck has problems and needs to go see the dealer already right!?!

When it comes time for me to get my supercharger, I'm going to buy the wife a pair of Christian Louboutin heels to soften her up. And if that doesn't work, (gulp) I'm going to have to get her a Prada purse. One way or another, I will get that supercharger!

I have heavily considered it, to be honest. My truck is paid for and it’s only at 35,000. But, at the end of the day I feel I would just use it haul ass and destroy people in Camaro’s and other shit boxes that think they are rolling in a fast vehicle. It just seems so satisfying to know they would be wondering how they got worked by a truck. But, 8500 bucks just to have that kind of action?

I do not want to hijack this thread, but exactly what real world advantage would I get from the Coachbuilder steering kit?

It make sense to do it if you have a lifted truck. At high speeds, the steering doesn't feel as loose. The handling is pretty good. My other cars are all German so handling is a big issue for me. At least, it works for me.

Toyota is doing a cam tower gasket recall. As a result of better gasket, no oil leaks and the truck puts down power better.

What??? Do you have a link to the recall? That's pretty big news considering how long its been an issue.

I think he was joking on how the other guy could justify to his wife that the truck was in the shop for a few days when he really getting a SC installed.

I got the Magnuson email as well. I remember waiting and waiting for the kit for the 2018 Tundra. I had worked out a deal with the dealership to install it at purchase, but I had found the Sport I wanted and it still wasn't available. I still want one, but not nearly as bad because of tow/haul and possibly the Pedal Commander.

My 2012 Tacoma was at the dealership this morning for a special service recall. I had the TRD supercharger installed at purchase in 2012. It's a fun little truck, but very different than the Tundra. Equipped similarly with KO2s and a Leer shell. Former TV.

Well, I have a 6" Pro Comp lift on my 2018 CM. I have asked others, here on the forum the same question and I cannot ever get a solid answer. So, by saying "At high speeds, the steering doesn't feel as loose", you are saying that the truck is more responsive/sensitive to steering input? Any other benefits? Does it help with turn radius? Does it help with alignment? Does it remove any of the camber/wheel lean when cranking the wheel over, that plagues our lifted Tundras? These are the questions that I would love to have answered by someone who has this kit installed on their rig.

Did you check with OVTune? Since they are doing 18/19s can’t see them skipping over 20s. I wouldn’t hold my breath for any other company like BullyDog. They seem to not want to mess with the TSS and stopped at 2017.

I'm leaning towards HP Tuners... just hate the wait.
I have seen too many issues with OV Tune on this and other forums to risk it.

Magnuson was waiting for the tune for the 2018 s/c and that delayed the release, which screwed me. I think that was the end of the Magnuson - BullyDog relationship, but I could be wrong.

I have 3.5 inch lift w 35s and supercharged. I am a speed demon and all my cars are either supercharged or turbo. Tundra was too slow for me after the lift and those heavy tires!!!
So I supercharged and regear and made a raptor beater. To answer some of your questions in the order

    1. high speed means 75+ mph. I felt uncomfortable changing the lanes abruptly when the steering felt loose or not as responsive. I use my truck for Overlanding and it sticks to the road when I am going through the curves in Colorado or Tennessee @ high speeds.

    2. turning Radius!!! it’s fine because I can easily make U turns in the narrow streets of Chicago.

    3. No issues with alignment.

    4. I have coachbuilder shims with the steering kit. That definitely helped with annoying wheel scrapping and left lean.

TRD front and rear sway bars definitely helped along with the steering kit. My truck handles lot better and it’s not a supercharged straight line queen like the Challenger hellcat.

I was scheming this morning after reading this thread. I'd have to get her at least 7 days at Miraval, this spa in Tucson. That would get it done.

I'm going to ask my local Toyota garage how much they would charge for the install. This forum sucks. I was over the Magnuson supercharger.

I was quoted by Toyota Long Beach in California for installed price of $8200 (supercharger lists for $7000).

Question for you guys so the Tundra has a speed limiter of 109mph so will the supercharger and possible programming will eliminate the speed limiter or are you installing a supercharger to get to 109mph faster? Is their a programmer that will eliminate the speed limiter?

I had my lifted 2010 tundra in Germany a few years ago. Doing 100+ on the autobahn is a little scary. I had the TRD SC and tune, but I’m pretty sure I got it over 109. The new tunes might over ride the speed limiter.
